I've been invited to spend Thanksgiving with 7 other people and I'm a little nervous. I'm actually considering not going and spending the day alone.
Are you getting together with people? Does the thought make you nervous? Anyone going solo for Thanksgiving?
Update: The get-together has been cancelled. I let them know I wouldn't be coming and shortly after that the Governor asked all Minnesotans to stay home for Thanksgiving. Things are a real mess here. I'll be fine. I'm gonna make a dinner for myself and watch some movies.

I'm meeting with three friends at a restaurant. Our city had opened restaurant dining to a limited number of diners, in the indoor area. We've experienced a spike in Covid, and that indoor provision has been rescinded. So, we're back to outdoor dining (which I like). We don't know what the mandate will be, on Thanksgiving ... or what the weather will be, for that matter. We don't get snow, so rain/chill would probably be the worst we could expect. But, that's why Mother Nature lead man to make wine. We have mutually decided to assess the situation in the day, or two, before Thanksgiving. And, the restaurant has stipulated to that. None of us has a problem with spending Thanksgiving on our own.

BUT, there is a solution - could you ask the other 6 people to quarantine for about 10 days? That should really minimise the risk to all... At least thats what I would do.

My family was going to have a big gathering at my brother's house, but that has been cancelled due to COVID. My siblings are concerned about meeting up with myself and my parents. So it looks like I'll probably just be having dinner with my parents.

Was supposed to get together with my parents, brother, niece/nephew, their significant others, and my great-nephew but mom cancelled it this morning. Just as well, I was nervous about going because two of the dipshits I work with who haven't taken the pandemic seriously now both have it...I feel fine, but you never know. Wasn't relishing being around my seventy + year old parents with the possibility of being asymptomatic. So it looks like I'm flying solo this year.

Will you cook or get take out? Have a nice time even if you are alone.

Does the thought make you nervous? Anyone going solo for Thanksgiving? I'm going to North Carolina to be with 3 of my best friends. I can't wait. Though I'm not looking forward to the air travel an wearing masks. I'm bound to panic. As a matter of fact, I just asked my doc to prescribe me 2 Valium for the trip. Otherwise, I'm afraid they're going to have to either knock me out cold or I will spending loads of cash getting drunk at the airport bar. I am claustrophobic.

It’s going to be my parents, my sister, my husband and my kids. Maybe my brother and sister in law.
I’m not worried about Covid much anymore. My sister had it and she had no serious symptoms.

Yes, I'm nervous. I'm nervous that we will run out of cranberry sauce and that the person in charge of the dressing will insist on sun dried tomatoes. YIKES!

well I WASN'T but now I am. We are not going out on Thanksgiving as our usual partners in crime for that are out of town. BUT they invited us to visit them on Saturday for a delayed Thanksgiving, which we really want to do, but now I am thinking - they will have for sure met with some people who are not within their households on Thanksgiving. (plus their kids go to school every day). How much has this raised the odds for them to be infected but yet asymptomatic but already infectious. Who knows.
I am considering wearing a FFP3 respirator to the visit and either not eat (is that crazy) or sit at the farthest spot of the table and try and social distance (is that crazy). Its a family of 4 plus the two of us and I am an At Risk group.
Thoughts?
(Happy thanksgiving all)
