... where I live, most people wear masks and social distance. And all businesses demand it. In New Orleans, refusing to follow guidelines could earn a 500 dollar fine. All the stores here have "you MUST wear a mask" signs at the entry door .... BUT the people inside with no mask or a mask around their neck or their nose hanging out are not spoken to .... MOST folks are wearing masks! No fines here .... yet.

And in any big building (like a grocery store) you gotta be within 6 feet. So, it's easy to avoid those people. Wearing a mask protects the wearer more than it protects others. So wear your masks and stay away from those people.

not when people have no frigging clue what the shit 6 feet looks like! anger management classes still not working. I imagine it's hard in a place like New York to stay away from people. And a small crowded grocery store is more dangerous than a big spacious grocery store. I live in a suburb. The aisles at my grocery store are about 4 to 6 feet wide.

They look small on TV. sure ... many do but the complaining going on seems to be about regular stores with aisles and shopping carts and customers in lines. Anyway, Bodegas are commonly called "bodegas" not "grocery stores".

So wear your masks and stay away from those people. Yes, a vast majority of studies from around the world proves that masks are effective in slowing down infections from society point of view if most people wear masks. There is overwhelming evidence for that. Also, I have been saying it for long, one should not single out any country. Many people from all over the world have been infected with Corona and many countries have high death rates. Belgium (1,373 deaths per million), UK (831 deaths per million), Italy (861 deaths per million) are slightly ahead of the US (808 deaths per million). Even poorer countries such as Peru (1,078 deaths per million) or Iran (546 deaths per million) have suffered. We should accept that there are many reasons that causes higher infection rates in any society. Some could be worked upon more than other reasons but there are cautious and disciplined people across every country. And there are not so disciplined people too across the world, whether that be India, Israel or Italy. We should just follow disciplined approach and try to take caution. This will not just help us but the whole society.

@forceghostackbar BUT, on the other hand (or tentacle) does it not just seem like last week when we were be-moaning the fact that the Fourth of July Fireworks were being cancelled ? Meanwhile

Do they make people wait in the checkout line at your store at six foot intervals? Yes. For some of them. But you apparently continue to miss an important part I have reiterated numerous times. The people themselves DONT do the 6 feet apart! There is NO reminding them. The poor store workers will only approach the white people who disregard the rules (which isn't a problem). And now that schools are back to remote only temporarily, we now have an influx of parentless brats roaming around! No one is safe anymore to say anything!

I have maybe one bodega in my neighborhood and about 5supermarkets within walking distance.

They don't do that anymore. No one gives a shit. Some GS aren't. It depends on how the store is built. Some have aisles that are narrower.

Your foul mouth and hysteria about everything are, as always, occasionally amusing. Productive would be anger management classes for you.. they might lower that blood pressure ! .

an asshole saying asshole things because hes an asshole... I imagine it's hard in a place like New York to stay away from people. And a small crowded grocery store is more dangerous than a big spacious grocery store. I live in a suburb. The aisles at my grocery store are about 4 to 6 feet wide. You are lucky. we USED TO HAVE STRICTER rules but the rules were/are reinforced by the store personnel. PERSONNEL who have too much to lose if a patron goes from calm and normal to insane and violent within seconds without warning. THEIR managers DONT have their backs. and our nearest police station is 2.5 miles from my apartment so there's that nonsense to contend with. now, we have too many people just not caring anymore. Ive been on the subway and i get it, social distancing on subways and busses just cant be done. even before then it is what it is and as long as i am mindful of my space and my things invading other people's spaces. keep calm and carry on. im still the only one wearing a mask despite the warnings of getting ticketed for not wearing one. i hit up some errands tuesday afternoon and i visited a normally good supermarket on the way back [not my closest]. <many of the stores do not have simple, normal floor plans. a lot of the insides have unique aisle arrangements because of the shape of the building itself> HERE is where it gets frustrating. no matter WHAT STORE YOU GO INTO... they all have the regular sized shopping carts. then we have the checking out line next to the deli counter because the building was designed well before covid hit. whenever i go shopping, since i a dont have a car, i take my old lady cart. so i use that as my shopping cart. i dont find it HARD to stay away from people. but its hard when i am the only one who is conscious about the restrictions still going round. its like i am the only one who complies anymore. the BIG supermarket near me has arrows on the floor still, indicating which direction the normal shopping traffic SHOULD flow. again, im the only one who even notices this! now this store is getting dicey because the personnel cant keep up with the influx of NON-NEIGHBORHOOD people who entourage to the store as a normal grocery outing. people cant leave their kids home because they are most likely the only adult within the household. the six feet also means six feet in ALL DIRECTIONS, not just in front of you or behind you. THATS what most people just dont get.
