I like Dan Trachtenberg, but have no reason to even want any 80's franchise to come back.

They just remade it ! The Predator's size/cgi was ridiculous. He looked like the hulk running around in it. All of the protagonists except Thomas Jane were annoying and just interchangable. And worst of all is the stupid ass plot/reason the Predators come to earth to hunt in the first place. Its not just for pure sport anymore or a rite to grown Predatorhood. No, the moviemakers cooked up an astoundingly stupid motivation that they hunt to get their kills' DNA to genetically modify themselves to evolve thus ruining that they are a savage and cunning species that adapt by learning, and like to keep skulls and spinal column of their kills as trophies. And as it turns out, the most valuable/strongest spinal fluid is that of autistic Asperger kids. Who the fuck came up with that !!POS worthless movie ! I maintain that Predators and both AVP movies, even the much hated Requiem are better movies.

Who the fuck came up with that!!
**it sounds like pandering to the social climate so doesn't surprise me although even in Predator 2 they compromised the concept by having the aliens be good losers and let Danny Glover walk out with a gift.
But interestingly, one ending considered for the original film was that the alien as he lay dying--Dutch opens up his chest to see he was wearing a biomechanical suit and was in fact a skinny wimpy alien underneath totally dependent on technology--sounded more Outer Limits than what the movie did--the bomb ending was intended as a joke inspired by Wile E Coyote and the storyboard artist who came up with it was surprised that they used it.

That biomechanical suit alternative ending with Dutch would have been shit but the Predators being good losers and giving Danny Glover a gift (shame it wasn't a book about being a good actor) was sort of good and sort of shit too I'm unsure if I liked that or not.

Why would it be shit? He would have still been fighting Arnie as he had, except, after a tree falls on him, it cracks open the suit and Arnie says: "Ha! Ha! You're a girly man! I am going to get Hans and Franz so we can pump you up!"

Story details. It's a period piece? I didn't know that.
“The story will follow Kee, a Comanche woman who goes against gender norms and traditions to become a warrior. Many years ago – in a time before any Europeans had ever encroached on their lands – the Comanche people had a well defined society and gender norms. Kee is very close to her younger brother, Taabe, who is being groomed as a leader. As capable as any young man in the tribe, Kee has always been a teacher and source of inspiration for Taabe. In the Comanche way – she is Patsi – the elder sister that has helped to shape him. Kee is a truth teller and has insight that others do not. A tomboy, she wants to prove herself in the masculine world of the Comanche. When danger threatens them all – Kee sets out to prove that she is as capable as any young warrior.”

That "hunting people and using the bodies to modify the Predator DNA" stuff sounds as bad as the midichlorian stuff for Star Wars.

The first two were ok. The second was miscast with Glover in the lead, but it still works fine from an action and visual perspective. The rest didn't rock my boat.

Meh. The 1987 film is the greatest movie of that year as far as I'm concerned.
Predator 2 is a class sequel. Not as good as its predecessor, but the urban setting works well and Danny Glover provides us with a different type of action hero.
Everything after that is worthless.

I dunno, a Predator Western might actually be kinda cool. I mean, the biggest possibility of this franchise- and one that's been barely explored in the actual movies- is that you could really drop the Predator into any time period, setting, or genre.

Whether you like it or not the Predator sequel with Adrien Brody was the second best after the Arnold's Predator movie it had mythology, Adrien Brody surprising me as a convincing lead with a dark past, it had better characters and Laurence Fishburne and Topher Grace as psychopaths. I'm just not getting the liking for Predator 2.

The last Predator movie was garbage and as well as others that didn't star Arnold.
I always saw Predator as a one off movie. Not everything needs to be converted into a franchise.
Another turd in the making.

I'm just not getting the liking for Predator 2. Wasn't a fan of that one, but Predator 2 worked for me for the following reasons: - The change of setting from a real jungle to an urban one meant that it wasn't a mere rehash of what came before. The heavily populated setting changed and raised the stakes. - Danny Glover was a good successor to Arnie. A very different kind of action hero. A tough cop but not a musclebound larger-than-life super soldier. An underdog of sorts. - Related to the above point, I like the way the sequel played out somewhat like a crime thriller. - Like the first film, it boasted great action sequences and the Predator was still a fresh enough concept to creep me out. - I really liked the film's resolution.

Will she be able to punch a predator in the face Adrian Brody style? Or will she be friends with the predator like in Alien vs Predator--running down a hallway with her predator buddy.
This diversity BS was also promoted in comics--the Alien Vs Predator comic ends with with a Japanese woman fighting alongside a group of predators as they kill aliens. I chuckle that Sigourney Weaver was asked who she rooted for in Alien vs Predator and she said the alien.
