It’s something that I think would be good for streaming. It’s too dark for Disney Plus, so their next option would be Hulu. I don’t see it doing well at the box office if that’s their plan.

I'm actually surprised by this. The Predator franchise has potential and I'll always watch them. But what more can you really do with it? How far can you go with a limited premise? How many times can you have an intergalactic hunter stalk a group of people, or fight a similar creature like the xenomorph, before it gets tired, repetitive, and formulaic and eventually just rehashes/retreads the original film? But the problem isn't that its become tired (it has), but that its been allowed to. The first two movies are about the same theme, but different enough to justify pushing the franchise forward. All the others have just been money grab re-hashes. They even fucked up AvP which as a comic book was fan-fucking-tastic! Here's some new concepts to explore: Go to the predators home-planet and see them on their own turf. Have a predators story that takes place in the future, so that humans have the tech to fight back, like in Aliens. Predators in the past fighting, the Roman Empire, or barbarians, or in the Wild West. Predators vs Predators, with no humans in the movie, just them. Predators vs another alien race that are far more powerful than them so that now the Predators are the underdog. This shit writes itself. I don't see the problem. Do I have more imagination than everyone in Hollywood?

Arctic Circle wilderness area, Finnish-Soviet border - 1943In the land of the midnight sun, German SS ski troops and their uneasy Finnish Army allies patrol the remote & rugged No Man's Land between their positions and those of their enemies, the Soviet Red Army... But something mysterious -- some of the more rustic Finns (Laplanders) think it's a supernatural being -- has been slaughtering soldiers on both sides...

I'd go fucking watch that! At least it would be different!

I would love to see a movie set in the 18th Century to see how the Predator got this gun that we see him give to Danny Glover at the end of Predator 2. But youre right, there is so many different ways the franchise (and most franchises) could be re-born. But they keep doing the same watered down rehash of the originals because they dont want to risk moviegoers being offput. The new Matrix trailer gave me the same vibe. Its a shame.

(Out of the Predator's usual "comfort" zone of hot & humid locales.) I'd be happy to write a script for, oh, say $750,000.

But I'd still write it. You've got to start somewhere! I like the snow and the Nazis, but I wouldn't get too convoluted throwing in Finns AND Russians too, IMO.

Lord almighty why is it so hard to make a legitimately great Predator movie after the first one? Predators came close, Predator 2 was nearing that ballpark, but both AVP movies were colossal disappointments - with the second installment one of the worst I've ever seen in the theater, and The Predator - Good lord, what a dumpster fire.

Image looks cool. The Comanche are one of the few native tribes I’ve read up on so I’m curious to see how the movie will portray them. I also hope the Predator stands out. They can give it personality without it having a speaking role. Alien vs Predator Requiem showed that well. Might be the only thing that movie did particularly well.

I will say…if the movie doesn’t have a decent Predator vs Comanche battle where the Comanche are fighting from horseback then the movie gets a 1 from me, regardless of how good the rest of it might be.

The problem is, it's going to be a pg-13, they want to make a profit. We're not going to be getting full frontal nudity, profanity and Gary Busey being sheared in half like in Predator 2. That's how we ended up with Shane Black's very toned down script for the last dismal outing, and he was the guy who wrote the Last Boy Scout.
