They’re fun but not many things are innate to them. They're also as pure as the driven snow. What more does your God want? (The list is much longer than that, by the way.) If I could actually believe what I wanted to, I'd believe that old philosopher does know more about God than you do. Good luck with your studies, Sci. I hope you're smart enough to get into heaven.

We don't call them "mistakes." The correct term is "It's God's Will."

Thanks for the chat. Should I say that your reading comprehension needs work? I’m not that familiar with your stand on all this - I didn’t read the whole thread. I’m guessing that you’re trying to promote the idea that religion isn’t necessary because everyone already knows about God innately. Ok. It’s your view.

I could agree with that, but it isn't what I said. Nobody needs a degree in theology to know God. Love is inherent in every one of us. It's not a big mystery, despite what some religions would have you believe. Although it does have it benefits, religion is not God. After all, we were talking about knowing God - not the rites, rituals, and mindless mantras of Man.

I don't have a Bible in front of me but God repented for ever making man. We are Gods big mistake. God could turn this around and say "I don't make mistakes".

If left alone without it, they have something called “failure to thrive”. When an infant starts to smile at their parents / caregivers, they are “buying into” being part of the human race. Once they “buy into” being a person, they need a lot of affection including physical bonding (being held, being hugged, holding their hands, etc). This is similar to religion. The community / culture that goes with religion is part of the benefit of religion. This is part of the freedom of religion. It may seem useless to you, but billions of people consider it important and they connect it with loving God. It’s their right, except in communist countries.

There you go again, reading things into my posts that I never wrote while ignoring the things I did write. In this case, I said religion has its benefits, but you somehow took that to mean it seems useless to me. I'm tired of burning your straw men. The simple point I've been making this entire time is that apparently your views on God are not your own. It's why you defer to the so-called experts. I hope one of them will be by your side when you stand before God. You're going to need them. Take care.

AdminYou wrote this: Unnecessary aggression towards “religion” and you’re aggressive again. What’s the point of all this if you can’t feel like you’re poking a stick at what you don’t like. We know almost everything outside ourselves through learning. It’s how human beings operate. Babies need it more than anything. Take care.

God didn’t create human beings with an internet connection to our brains so that we would know God without ever hearing what anyone else has to say. I don’t think we will be judged after death for missing out on this direct knowledge that’s supposed to get to us without any human interaction. No “pop quiz” at the Pearly Gates.

The first “Hebrew” in the stories about the origin of Ethical Monotheism is Abraham. He realized that One God existed (the Creator of the Universe) because his father was a maker and seller of idols. He watched his father form these idols from materials in his shop and then sell them to people who worshipped them. A story in Jewish lore is that his father left him alone in the shop one day and he destroyed some idols. He put a hatchet in the hand of another idol. When his father came back, he told him that an idol had killed other idols. The father said it was impossible since idols can’t move. So he said, “Then how can they be gods?” Human interaction!

Life after death is seen by Judaism as spiritual life. You either have it or you don’t. If you don’t have it, then you end when you die physically. You are buried and there’s nothing else happening. This is the Jewish perspective. Where is the evidence of this perspective? Is the Jewish perspective so chosen, that it doesn't require a burden of proof?
You can't possibly claim that there is life after death without first proving what form this takes outside of the human realm.
Even to describe spiritually would be in the abstract and I myself don't deny holistic living outside of the religious perspective of a separate creator god, yet I also can't prove what I perceive as holistic. Not everyone is born into Judasim either, so to claim you either have it or not is just projected arrogance of belief and can be very damaging, especially when there is a boosted up image to live up too. It then becomes more about ego than anything else.

Toasted Cheese No one is asking you to believe anything. Believe whatever you want. And I am asking you to provide evidence of what you have stated, like it is fact based around your belief. Telling me to believe what I want is you just attempting to worm your way around your statements. You made them, should you then not be able to defend them with logical reasoning and clarity?

Yet you haven't provided me with any resounding logic or rationale regarding this perspective. Don't expect to express something and not get challenged about it.
Who else here has joined in and bought into the perspective?

My information is correct. This is our perspective in the religion. You aren’t an issue. There’s nothing to discuss about your feelings. We have our perspective and that’s that.
