Look in the mirror. For a long time. What you wrote is probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen anyone say in my life about the concept of God. Why? Do you have any reasoning or proof that power has to equal intelligence/right? One of the attributes associated with the concept of God is ALL KNOWING. You’re stuck on the idea that what YOU think is necessarily smart and everything else is necessarily stupid.

You’re stuck on the idea that what YOU think is necessarily smart and everything else is necessarily stupid. Some people seem to have difficulty with the concept of omniscience and omnipotence. It's always just a rephrasing of the classic rock argument. If the conclusion is that there's something God can't do given the premise that there's nothing he can't do, something went wrong along the way.

Admin“The three “omni” attributes of God characterize him as all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere present. Each of these involves the other two, and each provides a perspective on the all-embracing lordship of the true God.” ———- Maximum power (more than any other being). Knows everything. Exists everywhere. ——- Suggesting that God might be stupid is strange, to say the least. Suggesting that God isn’t all-powerful if God doesn’t have the power to make Himself weak is pretzel thinking. Games.

I mean, it's right there in the premise.

If God is omni-everything, then he can make himself weak without compromising his omnipotence, ignorant without compromising his omniscience, and nowhere without compromising his omnipotence. I mean, it's right there in the premise. Well, the Bible claims God made the universe in six days, however we now know that’s just not true. So, there’s the first crack in God’s omni-ness: like Trump, he has to lie about his abilities. The sun wasn't created until the fourth "day."

The sun wasn't created until the fourth "day." You’d think an all-powerful being he could have popped everything into existence instantly rather taking several days. And why should such an entity need rest? Of course, many Christians believe the universe is at least 13 billion years and Genesis is a myth to be used as a first metaphor, then allegory. But like challenging the 6-Day Dogma, this cracks God’s image of being a real, flesh and blood Zeus-like being to a metaphor as something that animates the quantum woo. So assigning omni-status becomes metaphorical speech. No, it cracks your image as someone who knows context. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Back in my day, we said things like "back in my day" and no one thought we were talking about a specific 24-hour period.

Okay, so now that we do know, why hasn’t God sent us the updated version that corroborates science so that his most ardent believers will stop thinking all science is from the Devil and wear a freaking mask? It’s for them he should come clean and stop with the metaphors because they’ve had a very hard time even adjusting to the 20th century. And 21st is killing them. Genesis V.2, as it were. Unless he omni-knows the future and figures what’s the point? From what I gather, nothing in the Bible has been disproven. If that's true, then you might want to postpone the update. At any rate, now that the broad brushes are being used, I'll take my leave. I need to give my atheist friend a ride to work and listen to him repeat his latest favorite catchphrase: "I ain't wearing no goddamn mask!"

I'll be looking forward to your list when I return. Later. I don’t entertain the “nothing in the Bible has been disproven” foolishness. ![](https://i.imgur.com/Fq8cPrn.png) Well, sure there is. You could tell me what's been disproven. It doesn't need to be an exhaustive list. I tell him that all the time. I think he likes it. You missed the point. Apparently ardent believers aren't the only ones who refuse to wear a mask. But you're right: Stupidity does not discriminate and intelligence doesn't give a single rat's ass what camp you're in. You see, Paul, I'm talking about all people who don't wear masks; you're talking about religious people who don't wear masks...as you write what you just did.

The sun wasn't created until the fourth "day." What exactly is meant by day? An Earth day is 24 hours. A day on the moon is about 14 Earth days, On Mercury & Venus, their years are longer than their days. Each planet has a different length of day. How do we know that when God woke up this "morning", the first dinosaurs were wandering around?

A day on the moon is about 14 Earth days, On Mercury & Venus, their years are longer than their days. Each planet has a different length of day. How do we know that when God woke up this "morning", the first dinosaurs were wandering around? In this case, the first three days couldn't possibly have been 24-hour Earth days because there was no sun. Furthermore: "a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past" (Psalm 90:4) and "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." (2 Peter 3:8) Not to mention that if God created time itself, then he existed before time and therefore is not subject to it (or at least wasn't). Thanks for your post. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

How does an infinite being define a day?
There is absolutely nothing “objective” about assuming that a day to an infinite being is the same 24 hours that humans experience.
God never said “24 hours...”
For all we know, God moves at the speed of light, anyway.

Judaism considers days as time units that begin at sundown, by the way.
Israel follows this, too, when it comes to religious and secular holidays in Israel.
It’s the way God described “days” in the Bible.
This year, Hannukah started at sundown on Thursday.
The Sabbath begins at sundown on Fridays.

The Universe was not created in six days. That’s the objective truth and since it requires only one no to disprove a theory, therefore the claim in its first book is disproven to be the Truth. Now, if you’re into the Bible as subject to metaphor for Intelligent Design, that’s not anything the Bible itself claims about itself. And if you think my head is in the sand, friend, you are sadly mistaken. You are correct. The universe was not created in six days. According to science, it was created in an instant. So if that's all you got, we should probably go back to that bit about the sun not being created until the fourth day...

Does "knowing everything" not include knowing how to be knowledgeable, intelligent, wise, and dumb as a box of rocks? You're ascribing limits to something that is presumed to be unlimited for the purpose of the argument. Then throw the knowing out with the box of rocks, because once one knows something, it has served its purpose and then one would have to ask for what gain? Once I knew how a brain freeze felt, I stopped eating ice cream so fast. It's silly to say knowledge serves no purpose. Some would say that's the wind in our sails.

Yeah, yeah. Knowledge leads to ignorance and from there it's a stone's throw away from shedding the ego that blinds you from who you really are, which is merely a collection of experiences and memories. Deep stuff. But I still disagree with the idea that there's nothing to gain from knowing something, and I still say that our perpetual ignorance combined with our desire to "know everything" is what keeps us going. Omniscience would suck and would probably be the death of us all.

Is the example you gave about a brain freeze really knowledge, or just memory recollection? What if what we see as knowledge, is something we already knew to begin with and are really just acting out of pure instinct. I did not know that eating ice cream too fast hurts. Then I ate ice cream too fast and it hurt. Now I know that eating ice cream too fast hurts and I will never intentionally do it again. So it's both knowledge and memory recollection, which is beneficial.
