It's bad enough that MCU has refused to make a female-led superhero movie for such a long time, but it's even worse that instead of showing her as a strong woman who can stand up and fight for herself and kick some ass, MCU is promoting their first female-led superhero movie by showing her in her bra and panties.

Joss Whedon is directing Batgirl. Thoughts?

Sure it's relevant; the DCEU is the MCU's bitch.

Sure it's relevant; the DCEU is the MCU's bitch. Actually, it's the other way. The MCU is the DCEU's bitch. DCEU says they're going to make BvS. Then MCU reacts by saying they're going to make Civil War. DCEU says they're going to make a Wonder Woman movie. Then MCU reacts by saying they're going to make a Captain Marvel movie. So DCEU leads the way, and MCU just follows what DCEU does.

Minus Sony there is no studio more feminist than Disney.

MCU makes Guardians Of The Galaxy, DCEU reacts with Suicide Squad MCU makes The Avengers, DCEU react with JLA MCU makes Captain America about a superhero joining the allies to fight the Germans in a World War...DCEU reacts with Wonder Woman MCU plan out a large story arc, featuring lesser known characters, DCEU instead play safe, rely on their three most famous characters and still, by comparison fail. In this fantasy world of yours where Marvel hang on every DC move and "react" to it, the reality is MCU has taken greater risks, and succeeded better. Joss Whedon doing Batgirl! If true a good move. They learnt their lesson after initially kicking him off Wonder Woman and seeing him go off to Marvel and make an outstanding superhero ensemble movie. Another case of DC "reacting" to Marvel

HA, DC can't even make a billion dollars with Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman while MCU is making bank off unknowns like Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy, but sure Marvel is reacting to DC....

Actually it IS the other-OTHER way around. Civil War was rumored months before BvS was announced. And Captain Marvel was confirmed to be in development right before Wonder Woman was announced to be going forward with its production. Sostie covered everything else.

That was before CA: TWS was even released. CW wasn't announced until 2014.

To be fair they do the same thing with Chris Hemsworth and all of my hetero female friends who go to see the Thor movies only go to see Chris and don’t know much about the character ( ) but back on topic Marvel have long been run by sexist pigs who don’t want to make female superhero movies and a number of people who have worked for the company have talked about this in interviews and there is a reason why there has never been a Black Widow movie and Black Widow was chosen to be the first on screen female superhero over their largest selling female superhero, Ms Marvel and that reason was ‘cause she was easier to make into a side character. The only reason we are getting Carol Danvers now is ‘cause of the amount of fans who accused them of sexism including people who work in the industry and other companies are making movies based on female lead series like DC with Wonder Woman and Event Comics with Painkiller Jane.
Marvel’s main problem with female superheroes is they have never been truly successful with them and history shows the biggest selling female lead comic book series have been by DC, Image Comics/ Top Cow, Dynamite Comics, Event Comics and IDW. Witchblade has outsold every female lead comic book series by Marvel along with a number of their most popular male lead comic book series such as Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk and the Fantastic Four and it was outselling Superman, Batman and Spider-Man some months at its peak which is something none of the female lead comic book series by Marvel have been able to do. Sabrina the Teenage Witch has had more popularity than any Marvel female character to date and Darkchylde, Red Sonja, Painkiller Jane, Vampirella, Aphrodite IX, Avengelyne, Soulfire, Hack/Slash, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Seasons 8-10) etc all share one thing in common and that is higher sales than Marvel female superheroes. Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose has even outsold a lot of their female superhero series.
Don’t get me wrong ‘cause I do like some of Marvel’s female superheroes like Carol Danvers (Ms and Captain Marvel), Spider Woman, Elektra and Shanna the She Devil but female characters were never Marvel’s strong point which is why they don't like them and with more movie adaptions of female lead series in development than we have ever seen before Marvel are going to really struggle to compete with them going forward 'cause they don't have the names to compete over biggest selling female superhero movies. DC already have Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Gotham City Sirens, Zatanna debuting in 'Justice League Dark', a rumoured Birds of Prey movie and Supergirl is heavily rumoured to debut in 'Man of Steel 2' which will no doubt lead to a Supergirl movie

BvS was announced first. Then MCU announced Civil War in reaction to BvS.
Wonder Woman was announced first. Then MCU announced Captain Marvel in reaction to Wonder Woman. There was no confirmation of Captain Marvel being in development or even being planned until after Wonder Woman was announced.

I think it's more an interesting titbit...the man that developed Wonder Woman film a decade ago, but was then cancelled, went on to make the two most successful Marvel films, and is now sought by DC to make a Batgirl film.

I don't think they hate it. They probably just weren't confident in making a female solo film and now they will want to.

Probably because he was a huge player in the MCU and that is likely a huge reason why he was hired to make Batgirl?

Civil War was speculated for long before it was announced, many thought it was likely to come about based off of the interaction between Stark and Rogers in the first Avengers. BvS was just announced first.
Captain Marvel was rumored to have had a movie for a while, and some people were chuckling at the idea that a Captain Marvel movie was getting made before a Wonder Woman movie. Wonder Woman got announced a while after she was announced for BvS and didn't get kicked into production till halfway into filming.

Doesn't mean it wasn't speculated long before that.
