I voted "brats," although I'm not much of a connoisseur.
My favorite way of eating any link sausage is "Hot Dog" style. I like them grilled, with a little crispness to the skin. I want the bun/crusty bread to be toasted. And, bring on spicy mustards, sauerkraut, etc..
My favorite "hot dog" brands are Hebrew National and Nathan's. Hebrew National used to make an excellent "brat," but, I haven't seen them for a long time.
I do like a flavorful pork sausage link for breakfast ... the small, standard links. But, I rarely buy/cook them at home. It's a favorite to order, when I'm having breakfast in a restaurant. It's also what I use for sausage turkey dressing.

Excellent hot dog today at Costco. Still $1.50 and quite large with all you can drink fountain sodas (Pepsi drinks, but I use the seltzer tab).

Italian sausage ? Many kinds of them... which one ? POLISH sausage ? I know about polish custard, but what is Polish sausage, please ? Polish sausages are also known as Kielbasa. I don't care for them but mr sunshine loves them.
The most popular kiełbasa is also called "Kiełbasa Polska" ("Polish Sausage") or "Kiełbasa Starowiejska" ("Old Countryside Sausage"). In Poland, kiełbasa is often served garnished with fried onions, and – in the form of cut pieces – smoked kiełbasa can be served cold, hot, boiled, baked or grilled.
The main signature flavor that distinguishes kielbasa from other sausage varieties is garlic. Marjoram: Another common ingredient you'll find in most kielbasa is marjoram spice, which gives the sausage a little warmth and sweetness. Smoke: Most kielbasa is smoked, which adds to the delicious flavor.

These all depend on the brand and the recipe. Some hot dogs are not worth eating, some are better than any sausage. Same with brats and kielbasa.
