I looked up Sarah Records on wikipedia out of interest.
I've not heard any songs by The Field Mice. I don't think I know any of the bands they have listed, though I might have heard a song by Scottish band The Orchids as the name rings a bell (or maybe it's because I like the American punk group, the Orchids).

Sarah were very much pigeonholed as a fey/twee pop label arguably justifiably. They had some nice stuff, but outside The Field Mice (probably their "biggest" band) I was only familiar with a few odd singles and label compilations. The Field Mice actively tried to distance themselves from typical twee-dom, they were quite experimental in their short career, more obsessed with Factory and New Order, hence their lovely minimalist album sleeves

Did the artists signed to the label only release singles? I ask as I was always an album collector, never a singles collector (outside of a few favourite bands on 4AD Records). So, I snapped up albums by bands like Saint Etienne and Belle And Sebastian with zeal, but I'm sure many singles artists passed me by.

Very much a twee-pop fan myself. By the looks of it Sarah was very much a singles and EP label, although there were a few albums. I think at it's heart "indie/twee pop" works best in the single format, some bands struggle to make definitive album statements. Of course there are exceptions like Belle and Sebastian who work wonders over the full length format.

With the wonders of youtube, I'm hopeful I can give some of these singles artists a spin as I'm now suitably intrigued. I also plan to check discogs to see what albums are available too.

I've been doing some research into the music label Cherry Red Records. Some of the artists on that label have connections (and influences) to Sarah Records. You may know this; as it's all new to me, just thought I'd share it here. Thanks!

I'm aware of the label, but don't know too much about them apart from Felt being signed to them for the first half of their career. Could be my favorite song of the 1980s:
