Aliens Threatical Cut > Predator > Aliens Special Edition I don't know why they couldn't have released Aliens SE, (minus the needless colony sequence in discovering the eggs), as the official theatrical release originally. I skip through that LV-426 part. It takes something away from the mystery when the marines arrive.

The SE was wayyyy too long and kills all the momentum of the theatrical cut and I agree about LV-426 way more eerie when they arrive on the planet with the colony already gone.

Predator Something about Aliens has always been a little off to me.I find a few of the characters incredibly annoying and Paul Reiser is a cartoon villain.

The SE was wayyyy too long and kills all the momentum of the theatrical cut. That, and it's more eerie when they arrive on the planet with the colony already in ruin. Seeing it before kills the mystery. Yes, it is pretty much long enough, but I think Cameron also filmed some eloquent scenes that seemed to fit in well with the atmosphere of the rest of the film. That is why I always choose the SE to watch on blu ray and then just skip through colony family sequence 2 sequential chapters. The colony sequence goes on for about 10mins, so the rest left in I find negligible.

Both are excellent, but I've got to go with Predator. I love the jungle setting, the soundtrack and Arnie at his best.

I Agree the new scenes were well filmed, all worth watching but I'd prefer just to watch them as deleted scenes with original cut kept in place.

They’re very close...I want to say Aliens, only because it always feels like the guys from Predator get taken out so quick, leaving Dutch alone with Preda for quite a long portion of the second half. I think we spend more time with our fun group of Marines from Aliens. Once the fat is trimmed in that first skirmish, that is.
