She is in
She’s been a few good movies, Robocop, Dressed to Kill, Blo Out, Carrie but these movies are good in spite of Nancy Allen and would have been better with someone else

You're entitled to your opinion... But I don't agree.
She's fantastic.

Nancy Allen is terrific in Carrie.
Other than that, she is the very definition of a mediocre actress.

I think she's perfectly fine. Nothing special but I don't think there's anything especially bad about her.

She’s not very good in Blow-Out - the best of her films which I’ve seen - but I actually think she is very effective in Dressed to Kill.

I have no strong feelings towards her for the most part. Although I thought she was good in her brief role in Out of Sight.

I definitely don’t have strong feelings about her. She was ok in Carrie and Robocop, but I don’t remember her from anything else.

I thought she was perfectly cast as Chris Hargensen. Nobody could have done it any better.
She was just fine in "Dressed to Kill".

You're talking about her in Verhoeven and De Palma movies. Those two are probably the worst directors I can think of for portraying female characters ie either they were being drilled into a floor or they were psychos, skanks, bullies, airheads, hookers, butch, dykes etc. I've seen a few films where Allen played characters with more heart and she was pretty good.

Allen was very generic pretty when she blew onto the scene in the late 70's. I can't say that I can really complain about her though, except for her awful and terrible performance in De Palma's Blow Out -81'.
I didn't get to see this film until the mid 80's on vhs and was really looking forward to it for Allen mostly and boy was I disappointed in her. Not that fond of the film overall either. I have had previous discussions before about her acting in this film, but whatever De Palma allowed her to get away with, it must've been because he was her husband at the time and trusted her too much. There is nothing inspiring, skillful or even ironic in her performance as a stalked hooker. She was just pure 100% dense bimbo with no layers and it came across as cheap as her character. She did so much better in the previous DTK in a similar role. She had so much more radiance about her, plus she was using her brains as well.
I like her presence in the Robocop films too. She worked in well with Weller and his robotic ways and was the tough heart of the films.

I know a lot of people dislike 1941 quite a bit but she’s great in that film as the airplane obsessed object of affection of Tim Matheson.

I only know her as Mrs RoboCop. So I'm afraid I can't really add much to this thread. I'm not qualified enough on this topic to speculate on if the OP is a blonde actress hating serial killer in training or not.
