With regards to College Football, University of Michigan and The Ohio State University have a FIERCE rivalry.
As well, in junior hockey, The Drummondville Voltigeurs (about 45 minutes east of Montreal) and Victoriaville Tigres (about 15 minutes from Drummondville) have a FIERCE rivalry.
In fact, the only game I attended in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League was between these two teams. This was about 15 years ago. In the first 11 seconds of the game, there were FIVE fights. Took them at least 10 minutes to play the first 11 seconds of the game.

The Really Rottens had great rivalries with the Scooby Doobies and the Yogi Yahooeys.

EDIT - OK, so I posted this, and then watched the clip. It's been 30 years since I've watched this and obviously I knew it was silly, but I didn't know it was THAT silly. The massive ebullient crowd, Sly beating a dude literally twice his size, an announcer, Robert Loggia finally reaching his stepson but letting him watch the final match and I guess he leaves once Sly wins (what?), and there are TEN referees. I counted, there's a wide shot at around the 4:15 mark and you can verify for yourself.

Nothing crazy at all is right in NA. The 'best' we've got are some intra state & provincial rivalries because they feel like family fights, & fights within a family can feel more boundless than neighborly ones: Giants-Dodgers Rangers-Islanders Flames-Oilers Penguins-Flyers Cubs-White Sox Canadiens-Nordiques was a beauty, easily found on youtube. Those can all be far more sincerely fiery than inter geographic ones like Toronto-Montreal or Boston-New York. Cardinals-Cubs would be bigger no?. Cards & Cubs players might throw behind one another... I feel like Sox & Cubs fans would throw one another's cars off a bridge.

I imagine we’re just talking professional and college sports here? Since I don’t watch soccer much and I have never seen a single cricket match in my life, I’m just going to go with Ohio State and Michigan. Shit’s pretty intense where I’m from. I remember kids would get savagely bullied if they showed up to school wearing anything Michigan.
Same thing for high school sports. If anyone wearing rival colors was spotted in town, they’d get their ass whooped. Might get mugged if it was during spirit week.

Cool. Would have thought Florida/Florida State would have been a bigger rivalry. However, I'll take your word for it.
Some may think University of Michigan/Michigan State would be a big rivalry. However, Michigan/THE Ohio State University has been going on for a LONG time.
University of Michigan/Michigan State is more like a big brother/little brother battle. In fact, the one year State beat Michigan in Ann Arbor, I got a T-Shirt that read:
HEY MICHIGAN! WHO'S THE LITTLE BRO NOW?!

Florida-Florida State is like neighborly brawl. Florida State-Miami is like a family feud. Florida-Miami is you're dead in the water.
