Watching the original Star Wars. John Williams’ score has to be up there. Other movies like Lawrence of Arabia, the original King Kong, Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Once Upon a Time in the West come to mind.

John Williams' best work is either the old Superman movies or Jurassic Park IMO.

Greatest is all subjective. Some scores though do work wonders for the film they are accompanied with and some of the best films scores can work wonders without the film as well. Williams does tend to have an edge here.
