I was watching the Marx Bros. film Monkey Business when I heard a character refer to Groucho and Zeppo as "you two Bozos". That got me very curious considering the film was made in 1931. I had no idea that Bozo the Clown was that old. So I went to Wikipedia, which explains that Bozo was first introduced in the 1940s. So what Bozo was being referenced in Monkey Business? Anybody have any information or ideas?

Here is an interesting history of the term. BOZOFascinating read! Thanks. This also explains a reference by the Firesign Theatre in their popular play titled I Think We're All Bozos On This Bus, which, as a big FST fan, I have always found curious. It explains the word as coming "...from the Spanish 'Bosotros' " and describing one of five types of humans. I think I am beginning to understand the reference much better now. It is a fascinating play. Perhaps I should post a link to it but I am too lazy. You might want to Google it sometime.
