His father Percy was also a successful professional golfer.

He and Sam Torrance made a great double act, ably assisted by Ken Brown. Even when the golf was boring (It does happen sometimes, honest) it was worth "watching" whatever golf tournament they were presenting, just to listen to their banter.

I'm not old. I'm just not as young as I used to be.

Was of another generation and often heard him say things that would get any man half his age sacked, but he seemed to have been around forever and was very much THE voice of the sport in the UK.

Really sad news. Very fond memories of listening to Peter as a youngster bringing home Faldo, Woosnam and Sandy to their Masters titles.

Hope he's enjoying his supper up there tonight. RIP.
