I don't understand. On many boards they are now calling Ellen Page a he. This is what I don't get.
Just because someone changes their name does not change your sex. If she was a girl when she went by Ellen she is still a girl now even if she now goes by the name Elliot. Am I right?
For a good example. If Ben Affleck all of a sudden changed his name to Bernice he would still be a man.

You can’t change your gender. That isn’t a real thing.
Now, we can be tolerant of people and let them express themselves and be what they want to be. But we all know they aren’t really a gender they weren’t born.
The only people that can choose their gender are those with hermaphroditism.

The difference is, Page is letting everyone know that she "isn't" female, but really a male and who s(he) has always been, even though she was born with girl bits. I guess when one focuses all their attention on their genitalia, means they must have some real creepy issues going on. Page is loving this by all the attention that "its" getting by their self-absorbed announcement.  |

I think being too far one way or the other is dangerous. It’s good to have common sense. I concur and yes, common sense never goes astray. When one goes too extreme, it tends to get dissipated in all the hysteria.

Kids these days consider it transphobic to even call him Ellen Page.
I'm biologically female, have had male haircuts before, and people have called me a "he." The world didn't explode, although it's my personal preference that I don't give a fuck how people "gender" me.

Strapping on a pair of boobs, or attaching a penis... Doesn't change the DNA in your blood...
You will always remain the same person, that you were born as, under the hood... And Men still can't have babies, no matter how many boobs and vaginas they now have.
If you want to pretend to be someone else, go right ahead... but, you can't lie to mother nature.

That’s the line I draw when discussing this. You’re spot on. I support people doing whatever makes them happy. As long as you don’t hurt anyone, do whatever feels right for you. But don’t insult my intelligence and expect me to believe you can change or choose your gender. Don’t ask me to accept things that aren’t real to fit someone’s narrative in order to make them feel accepted. I accept them as a person, but I don’t actually believe they are suddenly a new gender. |

I think part of why transgenderism is more accepted in the west than anywhere else is that men and women here are more or less considered equal. Women don't have to bear children, and men don't have to be breadwinners.
