I've read some conflicting accounts. In one version the fourth official used "black" just as a way of indicating who he was referring to; if that is the case, it can hardly be considered racism - a bit impolite at worse, like saying "the bald guy" or "the short guy". In the worse version, he meant it as an insult. Not sure what to believe, although I tend to think that it is the latter.

John Barnes again talking sense on the subject of racism:- www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/13425827/john-barnes-istanbul-basaksehir-fourth-official-racist/Think he should be made head of the FA. Comes from the right generation to have experienced really terrible racism and knows where the important battlegrounds are. Having said that, I'm pretty sure he used race as a reason why he didn't get offered managerial positions rather than the fact he was an absolute disaster at Celtic!
