READ MORE Student loan debt forgiveness sounds good, but it will have a slew of nasty consequences.
For one thing, loan forgiveness would likely raise the cost of college even higher. The widespread availability of student loans drove up college tuition in the first place. Studies have shown the influx of government-backed student loan money into the university system is directly linked to the surging cost of a college education.
----
If they do it once, they’re going to do it again. Everyone is going to expect it. … The moral hazard there is nobody is going to pay for college. Nobody is going to work to try to avoid going into debt because you’re an idiot. Take on the debt! It’s going to be forgiven.”
-----
Somebody’s got to pay. And that is everybody else who didn’t have a loan that was forgiven. Because the people who have their loans forgiven, now they can go buy stuff they couldn’t buy before because they were paying off their loans. But in the process, they’re going to bid up the price for everything. And so now all the people who didn’t have any loans who were buying stuff are now going to have to buy less stuff because the price of everything is going to go up.”

Postpone the debts maybe but not totally forgive them !
What next .. forgive car loans ? House buying loans ? Insurance payments ?
a debt was taken on and needs to be paid .... many have done without in order to repay their loans... should they be refunded what they paid back ?

Why do people take out loans they have no intention of repaying? They're in college so they should be able to do some simple math to figure out what they can and can't afford, and if they can't, then all the money spent on their 12+ previous years of schooling was all for literally nothing.

You raise minimum wage and the cost of living goes up, so you wind up actually walking away with less than you had when you were *making* less. So not a whole lot different from this conversation from an episode of Roseanne.
Go ahead, show the part where you make more money when everything costs more to buy. Or try and convince us that for once in the history of the world, the cost of living would NOT follow a minimum wage hike.

Why don’t people just beg for money from that rich uncle they never visit? That’s how I paid for college!

I mean I made this argument long ago, we could take all the money that's poured into Planned Parenthood, dump it all into birth control, food banks and pantries, the foster system, schools, CPS, etc., fix all the problems people cite as why abortion is necessary, but oooooooooooooooohhhhhh NOOOOOOOOOOOO, that will never work, we can't take a penny out of baby killing services while bitching and moaning about how broke and broken the 'system' is, but let's not take the most obvious resources available to fix it.

That is because PP does more then killing babies, a well funding PP helps to prevent abortions.

Naw the average person having more money in their pocket would go the economy, and you are acting like they are going to raise taxes just to do this. And most likely that would not be the case.

kids should wait until they're financially literate and know what they're gonna do with their degree before they take out loans.
