No shit? Well 3rd time is the charm right? (Oh wait, this is technically number 4 isn't it?)

They've played with Spidey's cast already so I hope we get traditional castings. Perhaps lean a bit older too. Reed with greying hair, perhaps even with the children around already. Or if they want to keep Johnny's friendship with Peter (and set up Amazing Friends down the line) perhaps he will be of his age and generation and they'll be adjusted to match.

Given how bad the previous efforts have been, I can't see the MCU doing any worse in their handling of the characters. Hope they manage to get Doctor Doom done right.

He's a pretty disappointing choice. I like his Spider-Man movies but they aren't the best that the MCU has to offer. I'd prefer someone else take on Fantastic Four. If they were going to choose from former directors I'd take damn near anybody else.. Favreau, Coogler, Taika Waititi. But we should all at least be happy it wasn't Peyton Reed.

I'm not happy with Coogler due to his post Chadwick Boseman obsession So it'll be a no from me on him as an alternative.

Watts is the safe choice. He’s better than Peyton Reed but that’s not a high bar. His Spider-Man movies are bland and forgettable.

Why is it taking so long to make a good Fantastic Four movie?
Starting with the Roger Corman version in the early 1990s, the two Alba Toast movies in the 2000s, whatever that was in 2015, etc.?

Yet the films have all been terrible because what worked in 1961 doesn't necessarily work today. They have lame powers, boring costumes and a goofy group dynamic nobody can translate to the screen. Why isn't the hot shot younger brother who literally turns into a human torch the test pilot? Why does the test pilot talk like a mentally challenged garbage man? At the very least, the next film iteration should focus on who they are as people as opposed to making them into caricatures like the Alba movies or focusing on body horror like the Trank film.

Good points regarding the films.
