Both sort of vanilla, milquetoast, leading men who emerged at similiar points, who do you prefer?

I'll have to give the edge to Matt Damon. But good or thread by the way.

I'll have to give the edge to Matt Damon. But good or thread by the way. Both also have similiar trajectories as they sort of started out as daring leading men, who might go places as far as seeking interesting material, and devolved into being atypical leading men, although Mcgregor still chooses much more fascinating projects I'd argue.

Matt Damon. Milquetoast is a little harsh methinks.

Matt Damon is a better actor imo.
He has more range, more charisma and more screen presence.

Matt Damon. Milquetoast is a little harsh methinks. probably but sometimes feasibly I find it annoying when an actor is way too afraid to try more daring fare.

Which fascinating projects? You're talking about films where he has to use an American accent aren't you? I don't find him playing an American particularly fascinating. I'm sure birds of prey rocked your world but it didn't for me.

I don't think either of them are milquetoasts, but they are both very warm actors, but I can find Damon a bit dreary at times, or one note. I give McGregor the slight edge here, plus McGregor I find is also better looking in his middle age. Meh I think both look the same in their middle ages. I once saw Ewan on a morning show interview about birds of prey and he didn't look good at all.

Ewan McGregor
The Ghost Whisperer was fantastic.
I enjoyed his documentary about crossing the world on motorcycle as well. Very interesting.

I wouldn't call either of them vanilla with performances like Birds of Prey, Fargo s3, Talented Mr. Ripley, and The Informant. As for the question, I'd go Damon.

Damon for ripley, goodwill, Bourne, the informant
I like McGregor but Damon’s made the most of better roles

The Ghost Whisperer was fantastic. Do you mean The Ghost Writer? If yes, then I agree.

Matt Damon and it’s not close.
If you took away Star Wars, you wouldn’t even be asking this.
Damon has a many great roles.
