Cleveland Krauts or Cleveland Hymies would be more fitting for the makeup of that city. For the record: this German wouldn't be offend by the name Krauts. Isn't Yankee also sone sort of slur...

When you lash out when the first person who doesn't agree with you posts . . . that's pretty much being a troll. We take people of all political persuasions here, but they tend to talk sports and not just Proud Boys vitriol. I don't lash out because someone disagrees with me. Disagreeing on something doesn't make me a troll. You people are just sensitive and easily get butthurt when you don't have your way. No - - saying "coonskins" and insinuating that everyone who disagrees with him is gay does.

I was simply highlighting the snowflake nature of present day society and how they get offended by every little thing. I'm not even from the US I don't like that arrogant douche ReyKahuka fellow and my comment was directed at him. This klawrencio guy butted in for no reason. That's why I said what I said because he was "defending" him.

In San Diego, douchy male servers at bars call male patrons "chief" all the time. I use âchiefâ kind of interchangeably as you would âpalâ or âbuddyâ quite often. âWhatâs goin on, chief?â That sorta thing. Yeah, thatâs pretty common in Scotland too.

None of these teams selected their name to insult, ridicule or denigrate native Americans. Quite the opposite. But as we (as a society) continue to âevolveâ into a bunch of easily offended panty-waists, should any reference to the original occupants of this land be permitted? After we have erased them from our sports, where should we turn next? Just a few years ago if anyone said that the name âIndiansâ is offensive, they would have been scoffed at. But we have âprogressedâ to the point where that is now the case. Itâs not hard to imagine this trend continuing to the point where we are eliminating Indian names from everything. Only then will all those whinny snowflakes feel safe ... until they dream up the next thing to get triggered over.
You canât say âIndiansâ! Itâs now the I-word.

And the context is the same as animals, regarding sports teams. Bears, Tigers, Lions, Hawks, Sharks...Indians. Congratulations on your subhuman status. Don't worry, it's an 'honor.' And before we get there (for the millionth time), we didn't wipe out, assimilate and steal the continent from the Irish.

And before we get there (for the millionth time), we didn't wipe out, assimilate and steal the continent from the Irish. I'll just say again that for some reasons I've mentioned already that I think there's a little complexity with regards to this whole issue than most people are familiar with, and there is a contingency of white people being offended on behalf of others when they don't really understand it... but I always enjoy when people whine, bitch, and complain while calling others 'triggered snowflakes.' The lack of self awareness and irony is hilarious to a point where you have to question whether or not it's on purpose. Social issues are always more complicated and of course there's always a group willing to be offended on someone else's behalf. But the issues facing native peoples go back centuries and are not only unresolved, but largely undiscussed in our culture. They have virtually no advocacy in our society and government compared to other minority groups. Sports team names are literally the least of their concerns, which probably explains the results of those ridiculous polls that somehow 'prove' native people don't care about sports nicknames. "I have no job, no food, minimal education and my future prospects aren't looking great. What were you saying about a football team?" But rest assured, the community as a whole wants change. Don't take my word for it as a white guy who's actually seen reservation squalor firsthand, take their word for it instead. It's insane that we even have to have this discussion in 2020. I saw a commercial the other day for NARF (and if you haven't heard of it, I'm not surprised) asking for donations; the saddest part? They didn't mention Native Americans until the very end of the commercial. They made the commercial all about protecting the environment, because that's where they live. "Donate money to protect our country's beauty and resources, oh yeah, and the forgotten people who still live in the middle of nowhere in literal third world conditions because that's where their ancestors were forced to relocate to." It was smart to lead off with the environmental angle to get people to give a shit. I mean we're sitting here questioning whether or not cartoon likenesses on baseball hats are acceptable, and they expect you to donate money for their wellbeing? The snowflakes thing has always been hilarious to me. The people using it are always the first ones to get up at arms over any perceived insult to their perspective. He's here wondering whether we should "evolve." I already know he's against gay marriage, because it's a change that came about in his lifetime. I wonder how he feels about slavery or women's suffrage? Have we not 'evolved' into a better society over the centuries? A better, more fair society? Is there not still room for improvement? These are not problems because they don't affect him. Now ask him about gun control. The hypocrisy serves a central psychological purpose, though. Deep down, they know they're wrong. That's why they flip every situation and make it about them. They're somehow the victims. Systematic racism has been going on for centuries, and regarding Native peoples, European settlers took everything away from these people. But you want to take sports nicknames away? This is an assault on our heritage! These extremists want to ruin our country! It would be comical if it wasn't so depressing.

Patriots: more of a mindset than an ethnicity, no? Do you have legal or medical documents which identify you as a patriot? A Viking is a historical occupation, you forgot to throw Raiders in there. Steelers reflects the region of the team, community pride. Are you suggesting Braves/Indians/Redskins etc. were intended for Native American populations to rally behind? Or that they can take pride in their likeness being used to make money for an organization that has nothing to do with them? Sure, 'Indians' has the same connotation as a team named after Paul Brown. Why did you stop there? Red Sox and Green Wave are also not animals, surely that proves your point? None of your examples reflect ethnicity. All this and you didn't even answer my question. Would you name your team the Cleveland Blacks? If not, why not? Why are Native peoples treated differently in your eyes? 'Fighting spirit?' Black people fight. White people fight. Asians fight. Everyone fights. Why are Native Americans different? Because we killed and conquered them like they were wild animals, and on some level I guess our society still views them as such. How about you open your eyes instead of rolling them.

Me equating native Americans to other groups of people is "false equivalence", but lumping them in with "sub human" groups is righty-o? Because of their "ethnicity"? I've frequently observed that liberal types are often the first to disparage the ones they claim to defend. Black police officers and public officials are called n*ggers, coons and uncle toms. Liberals will gleefully out homosexuals in the hope of wrecking their lives, and they have no problem extolling the virtues of prison rape upon people they don't like ... and now this. sigh. Native Americans are people. They are not animals. I can't even begin to fathom the mindset that would make that connection and then try to blame it on someone else. Then again, I am not a liberal. I did answer your question. I said I would name my team a (non-racist) number. If I have to spell it out - that means I would not name them the Cleveland Blacks. Not in this hyper-sensitive brave new world we are living in. However, if I wanted to honor African Americans with the name of my team, and we lived in a sane world that wasn't populated by numbskulls poised to pounce on any perceived slight, I might consider the name Cleveland Blacks ... maybe something a tad more elegant. Ebony Warriors? You get the picture, I hope. If you (liberals, in general) could put aside your innate prejudices then this horse-shit would go away. There would be no need for all the phoney virtue signaling. But you can't, so it won't. BTW, rolling eyes are always wide open.

I do think Indians is a tad antiquated, though. Native Americans are only called Indians because the Europeans who first came here thought they were in Southeast Asia. Seems kinda daffy to still be referring to those people as Indians. So on those grounds it does make sense to change the name to something else.

Because I explained it in the first sentence. None of the groups you cited were ethnic groups, which is the core of the problem here. So you do understand the difference in context now? That's progress. Scary word for you, I know. What are you talking about? Seriously, you lost me here. Why is it virtue signaling? Why is it you're expressing an opinion and the other side is virtue signaling? To who? My real name sure as hell isn't ReyKahuka and I have no social media outlets to play to here. I can't gain followers or get street cred for my next media project or whatever your motivation would be for 'virtue signaling.' Who am I signaling to? Stop using stock arguments, start thinking. For the life of you, you can't understand why someone would care about an issue that doesn't affect them directly. They must be playing to an imaginary crowd on the enormously popular IMDb v2 sports message board. Remember when you used to beg admin to ban DC Fan on the Marvel board? I told you to just ignore him, and you said you were 'fighting the good fight?' So were you 'virtue signaling', 'pouncing on a perceived slight', or expressing an opinion? And who seems more pathetic, a guy arguing in favor of human rights, or a guy trying to get a dude thrown off a message board because he was picking on his favorite movie? I'll let you decide. Everyone's a 'panty-waist' sometimes, eh? I definitely do. Thanks for answering my question, I don't think there's anywhere for this conversation to go at this point.

Do you not read an entire post before replying? The only person in this conversation who has tried to make an association between Native Americans and âsub-humanâ animals is you. I thought it was very clear when I said, âIâve frequently observed that liberal types are often the first to disparage the ones they claim to defendâ. Then I provided a number of instances. African Americans, Gays, victims of rape, and in this case â âsub-humanâ Native Americans. Because you obviously think it is virtuous to jump on the name change bandwagon, and you want everyone to know that the on-line persona, RayKahuka, is a good liberal with liberal approved moral standards (not to be confused with religious moral standards). I mean, itâs not like youâre going to make an iota of difference posting about it on a sports forum. You are placating the need to lecture others. On the other hand, I am placating the need to tell self-righteous SJW types to go pound sand. I guess you could say I am pragmatism signaling. No. I never âbeggedâ, nor did I even ask the admins to ban DC Fan. I thought they should ban him, I presented the reasons why, and left the decision up to them. Eventually they agreed. A far cry from âbeggingâ. Iâm not sure why you are even bringing this up, other than to deflect from the topic. I think you are pretty much out of gas at this point.
