The first one was pretty good but it doesn't make any sense to remake it. Nerds have become pretty mainstream now.

I don't think I've ever watched the original.
I like what Seth MacFarlane has done with "The Orville" but I pretty much hate everything else he's ever done.

Curtis Armstrong (the guy that played Booger in Revenge of the Nerds) was a regular on "American Dad" (a show created by Seth McFarlane), so I wonder if it was his idea? Maybe Seth will give him a cameo.

Isn't it considered cool to have nerdish tendencies now? I don't really think a movie like that could work in the present. Maybe if they set in the 70s or 80s it could work.

This just has failure written all over it. In the 80s if you weren’t part of the in crowd you were an outcast. Nowadays everyone is into their own scene.
Dude, are you two strapping it?

The article talks about how the movie hasn't hasn't aged well... and I agree. If you want to make jokes about subjects like that, you can, but you have to display self-awareness of all the angles. For example: The SOUTH PARK episode where Spielberg and Lucas rape Indiana Jones. Whether you find it funny or not, it is what it is. In this movie, what Lewis does to Betty is presented as nothing more than a naughty trick (just as all the nerds putting cameras to spy on the girls), and what's worse, Betty doesn't care all that much.

Wonder if they’ll include our protagonist raping a woman in the remake.

Would they get away with putting in the effeminate gay black man?

Wonder if they’ll include our protagonist raping a woman in the remake. As long as they fall in love, it is no longer a crime right?

Looking forward to it. Everything Seth Macfarlane touches turns to gold. A Million Ways To Die In The West is a modern classic.

Uh, even the Cleveland Show? I never watched the spin offs fortunately but everything else is genius. Man's a modern day Matt Groening.

The first one was pretty good but it doesn't make any sense to remake it. Nerds have become pretty mainstream now. Yeah, if they update it to now it doesn't work because nerds are cool. Look at comic-con, superhero movies, and The Big Bang Theory. Plus there's a raunchy quality to the first one that they wouldn't do today.
