I've sworn off war movies for now, but Daniel Day-Lewis as Lincoln is a good idea.

Forest Whitaker as Idi Amin. The extras in the crowd scenes thought it was really Amin.

Robert Downey, Jr. as Chaplin.
The movie was above average and better than I expected, but someone as important and complicated as Chaplin needs a mini series to adequately cover his life. Downey, Jr., however, was superb.
James Cagney as Lon Chaney.
The same criticism can be leveled at Man of a Thousand Faces, a Classics Illustrated version of the actor's life and career. Cagney may have been too old to play the part, but he more than makes up for it with an energetic, earnest performance.
Doubtful, at this late date, that anyone is going to remake either film, let alone do them better.
