I yawned at how pretentious this list is.
Typical Obama.

Added most to my watchlist, but Mr. Obama and I rarely seem to see eye to eye on movies.

I wonder why we're supposed to care what movies, books, ice cream he likes or what nationality the guy his daughter's screwing is.
Seriously, are they going to ask Trump these questions in 4 years? Did they ask Bush for his favorite movie list and favorite Oprah club books?

Thanks for the 2020 list. I've picked up a few recommendations in the past. I'm not sure I've seen any of these movies yet, I'll have to look a few titles up to gather more information.

And I don't. But if the media wants to insist 'oh we don't play favorites, we treat all the presidents alike', then they should be asking all presidents past and present what their favorite food is, their favorite underwear, the size of their last bowel movement, etc. Or is there just something *special* that only ONE president from the last 30 years is entitled to all this attention?

Its not the media’s fault that idiot Trump doesn’t lists his favorites. Obama’s list wasn’t asked for, it was a tweet that was reported on. He’s been doing it for a while.

What do you think, they're gonna ask him about spying on Trump? I wouldn't hold your breath.....

There was a list when he ran for the Presidency, it just didn't catch fire with the public or even his supporters. It only had about 4 films on. One was 'Citizen Kane', another was 'Home Alone 2', but when asked by a reporter about 'Citizen Kane' he didn't seem to know anything about the movie, even though it's his all-time favourite.

I would argue Obama’s lists don’t hold a ton of weight either. They’re just part of the curiosities we have with a bunch of celebrities and political ones are a change of pace.

Yeah the media would ever report *anything* about Obama without running it by him first to get his okay on it, suuuure. Yeah they'd totally take the chance of doing something he didn't approve of.

I enjoy Obama's lists but it's just a fun way to find recommendations to me, no different to any list posted here (anonymously).
George Bush is well-read and interesting on art.
Bill Clinton's my favourite; in conversation with Elvis Costello, it was made clear he would have become a musicologist if not a politician. A musician himself, he has a wide knowledge of music, fiery passion, and loves getting on the subject of country, jazz and blues from his home state of Arkansas.
Ronald Reagan was an actor himself which makes his views on movies interesting to me (he was also President of the Screen Actors Guild).
In Europe, politicians often chat about their favourite things, or go on popular shows like 'Desert Island Discs' here in the U K. Those with no interest have plenty of other media options available nowadays.

novastar6First of all, clearly, yo do care. Otherwise, why post here? Actually, why click on the thread (after reading the title) at all? Second, Trump tweets whatever he's thinking pretty much every day. Certainly more frequently than Obama. Why doesn't that bother you? And why are you singling out Trump and not Biden?

Did they ask Bush for his favorite movie list and favorite Oprah club books? In fairness neither Trump nor his devoted followers have ever showed much interest in culture, except the "war" on their culture. Why would anybody care to ask him about which movies he liked? I mean, they asked him to talk about his alleged favorite movie of all time Citizen Kane and his answer revealed he had never even seen it all the way through.
