Wait... so they resurrected Boba and Biba?! What in the actual fuck? Thinking about since the finale, I can buy Bib surviving. I can see him escaping while Leia choked out Jabba - similar to the Imperial officers booking it as Luke talked to his dying father in Episode 6. At least Bib Fortuna didn't get cut in a half or thrown down into "Space hell" (as Ian McDiarmid put it). Hmm. Kind of a reach. I haven’t seen season two but it sounds like blatant fan service to me.

Hmm. Kind of a reach. I haven’t seen season two but it sounds like blatant fan service to me. Oh, it's definitely that too, I admit. It's standard procedure for Disney Star Wars to rely heavily on Lucas era characters. You don't have to really see it to know this. Fortuna is only in one scene anyway. For some reason though, it just doesn't bother me anymore. Them bringing characters back (often from the dead) to kill them off quickly is slightly funny in a ridiculous kind of way now. If I bother to watch something that is new in the franchise, I just know there's going to be at least one instance where it happens. Besides, they can't go any lower than what they did to Luke Skywalker...can they?

The 30 minute episodes are pretty annoying. That's how you can tell the plot is thin. When there's only 8 episodes in the season and they're churning out half hour episodes.

Honestly I thought they barely had enough plot to last 30 minutes. The show is basically a Saturday morning cartoon. And I can understand the appeal of that. I admit I throughly enjoyed the Jawa episode. But I still can’t believe this thing got an Emmy nom for Best Drama.

The plot was literally, "Mando tries to deliver baby Yoda to the Jedi." That's not much to work with. They had to create conflict out of that. You can almost see the writers struggling to come up with ideas.

I definitely preferred Season 2 anyway.

Probably a 7/10, really fun at times and with higher production value & in general better direction than season 1. But there were times where the fan-service was so extreme that it made it a bit more cringey than enjoyable imo (first thing that comes to mind was that video game style Boba Fett battle on the planet with the temple). My ratings for the different episodes are below. The Jedi was by far my favorite episode, I loved how much they leaned into the western and samurai inspirations of the franchise. Of all the episodes this season that one felt like the only one that truly felt like something we had never seen in Star Wars before, while still finding a good balance with fan-service and the overarching story. Besides that episode The Marshall and The Believer felt like the best directed episodes & The Believer is probably the one that delves the most into the emotions of the characters, Mayfeld was a very well written character. Perhaps the 'hottest take' in this list is the 6/10 for The Tragedy. I'm just not the biggest fan of Robert Rodriguez's style, it just feels so low-budget to me and not in a good way. It's probably the only time this season where there were moments where it felt like I was watching a fan-made video instead of an actual Star Wars tv show. And, as I've already said with f.e. Leia and Tarkin in Rogue One, I'm really not a fan of these CGI faces (with the exception of Rachael in BL2049). They always look so fake to me, it was almost like Luke was a 2D painting or canvas and it kinda brought down the great emotional climax between baby Yoda and the Mandalorian. Even besides the CG, the Luke reveal felt a bit out of place to me. So if anyone's wondering that's why I have that episode at an 8/10, the rest of the episode was phenomenal. But those are just nitpicks (please don't get mad, I know how volatile the SW fandom is), in general I really liked season 2 and I think it's a step up from the already decent first season. If they are making a 3rd season I do think we need something more plot-heavy than we got so far. It was a bit annoying that so much of this season was just set-up for future tv shows. Maybe a season exploring Mandalore and regaining control of the planet would be nice.
Ep 1: The Marshall - 9/10 Ep 2: The Passenger - 6/10 Ep 3: The Heiress - 7/10 Ep 4: The Siege - 6/10 Ep 5: The Jedi - 10/10 Ep 6: The Tragedy - 6/10 Ep 7: The Believer - 9/10 Ep 8: The Rescue - 8/10

The Mandalorian is 10/10.
