I know a lot of the traditional "quality" tentpole movies were held back in 2020, even so, the level of crappy movies is noticeable. I've seen a few already released to streaming and there is more lack of effort, than just out right bad filmmaking. It's like in 2019...even before Covid...when these films were being made, even then the creative energies were sapped. I think Trump and his constant barrage of bullshit burned everyone out by then, causing many to just go through the motions, not even realizing it.

I agree there has been so much crap released this year compared to recent years. It's near the bottom of my Ratings so far.

There are made about 500.000 movies every year.
My guess is that people watch less than 1% of every movie made in a year on average. So i am sure there are plenty of fantastic movies that you never get to see.
If you where to watch every movie made in 1 year, it would take you between 80 and 100 years to finish them.
There is a point here, if you understand the point, that is another matter.

Bad Boys 3 wasn't that bad. It was pretty fun, it was the last film I saw before the pandemic shut down the world.

I hate to admit this but I've only seen one movie, literally one movie, of 2020. It was Mank and unfortunately I didn't like it.

Back in the ol' days, I used to say that made-for-TV movie and made-for-cable movie were oxymorons. They could in no way match theatrical released films. Now, I tending toward the same opinion about made-for-streaming. As a previous responder said, there is a noticeable lack of effort.

Even a bad movie can be lively. Movies now seem exhausted. At the end of the line.

So now it's Trump's fault that no one in Hollywood has had a decent original idea in years?
I gotta say, for a racist buffoon, that guy really gets a lot accomplished. 🙄

I’m talking about the handful of movies folks like me...who are the bulk of the moviegoing audience outside of superhero/fantasy/sci-fi/action thriller genre... those movies are on life support. And even the superhero/fantasy/sci-fi/action thriller movies suck this year. Those others 500 are B to Z-grade movies, straight-to-video fare. I know that’s always shit with an occasional diamond hidden within. Again. I put to thee this to the whole conversation involving Trump has none of, us including the Wizards down at the Dream Factory, immune to it. It has zapped our stories of the creative dark energy woo. The Beast of “Why Me?” must feed upon it. I hope my framing it thus helps explain better.

The following is a lit of some of the better films I have seen this year. Please note that I have not listed documentaries, and there have been some pretty good ones. First CowGreyhound The Devil All the Time Tenet The Nest The Trial of the Chicago 7 A Rainy Day in New York The Kid Detective Ammonite High Ground. Let Him Go Hillbilly Elegy Uncle Frank The Way Back Borat Subsequent Moviefilm Another Round (aka Druk) PS, I am, however, going to watch SOUND OF METAL today and I have high hopes for it. HIGH GROUND.
