I use the user reviews to help gauge if something will interest me or not. I find it very helpful on Amazon. I can only assume it's because Netflix has so much garbage now that they got rid of them. It's inconvenient to look up reviews in a third party site.

But to me I think the audience deserves a voice (I didn't see it, and don't mind her films, personally. She's whatever, no strong feelings either way). It's helpful in getting an idea what the film is really about and if I'd like it.

Same reason rumors persist they got rid of imdb boards partly due to the rsponse to the recent and controversial film I'm not your negro.

I do kind of miss the star rating. They got rid of it after Amy Schumer stand ups I think.

Same reason rumors persist they got rid of imdb boards partly due to the rsponse to the recent and controversial film I'm not your negro. I'M NOT YOUR NEGRO is one of the finest documentaries about race in America I have ever seen. Yet, before this outstanding film even opened anywhere in America the film's page was inundated with 1 star ratings and racist troll reviews. Any insightful, well researched and factual political documentary that has a liberal or humanistic slant is likewise relentlessly voted down and inundated with ugly one star reviews from bigoted right wingers - most of whom have almost certainly not seen the films. Thanks to this sort of shit one can no longer trust the IMDB ratings for many, many films and documentaries. One cannot blame the IMDB for getting rid of the boards. It sucks for us movie buffs, but they became contaminated with hate at about the time Trump started his rise.

I get that, but I think user reviews are important enough to put some effort into moderating to maintain them. Why do fuckbois get to ruin everything for the rest of us?

I get that, but I think user reviews are important enough to put some effort into moderating to maintain them. Why do fuckbois get to ruin everything for the rest of us? I'm sure they can monitor those who use offensive words, but that wouldn't completely solve the problem. For example, GREY'S ANATOMY and STATION 19 have gotten many negative reviews on IMDB lately due to recent storylines involving COVID and police brutality (and I'm sure the same would happen on Netflix). Some of these users don't use slurs or swear words, but they still don't justify the low grade they're giving it. They don't have to write several paragraphs of analysis, but 1 or 2 sentences that don't really reflect what each episode is like as a whole? Not to mention those who clearly create new accounts just to write the same thing more than once. Granted, a stand-up special doesn't require many angles. It mainly comes down to finding the routine funny or not.

When did Netflix have user reviews ? I have never seen it. They had them for a while. I remember when you used to browse other users' collections that were suggested to you after choosing a certain title.
