The soundtrack, by Harold Faltermeyer is also a big part of why I so much enjoy this film. My three favorite pieces, are the terrific and very upbeat/pulsating Mick's Broadcast Attack, which kind of builds towards something really great, then the more atmospheric, yet danceable Paula's Theme which perfectly suits the opening of the show, and just oozes of late 80s vibes, and then my all time favorite, which I am somewhat surprised did not become a more popular theme by Faltermeyer, as it is such a goofy/fun and still very memorable/catchy melody to it, and I am speaking of: Are you ready for pain? Are you ready for suffering? If the answer is yes, then you're ready for Captain Freedom's workout!"Captain Freedom's Workout

It's interesting that the movie came out before American Gladiators. I wonder if the movie inspired the series.

It's interesting that the movie came out before American Gladiators. I wonder if the movie inspired the series. As a kid, I remember a few NES/SNES video games back in the early 90s, who had a similar style/look to that of The Running Man, and the one I always think of was:

An enjoyable sci-fi actioner with an interesting concept. Far better than that Hunger Games crap.
Like you said, it was prohetic in some ways with the reality TV, mass survelliance and deep fakes.
Such a fun, underrated flick.

Haven't seen it in a long time. I remember liking it, but I'd like a more faithful adaptation of the original Stephen King book (published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman). It was dark a.f.

The director of French movie The Prize Of Peril (1983) sued 20th Century Fox for The Running Man claiming it was an uncredited remake of his own film. While I haven't seen The Running Man, those who have seen both films confirm that entire scenes seem to have been lifted from the earlier movie.
I couldn't find any more information about this except that some documents of the case were lost in a plane crash in the New York Bay.

Rewatched this with a friend. Anyone think the score sounded very John Carpenter esque?
