No. The only reality shows that might be real are ones where people don’t know there are cameras involved.

Australia's The Block is a show I like. I'm not sure if it would be considered a 'reality show' or not though.

Pawn Stars and Hardcore Pawn are the most blatantly fake that I've seen. But I try to avoid most "reality" TV.

When certain networks have "reunion" recap end of season shows in a studio, with the participants going at each others throats- because they got along so well with cameras recording their every move- I'd have to say no. Same goes for for any "reality" show reliant on viewer feedback or uses the same individuals over and over.

Fear Factor was real. And while Judge Judy's audience are paid extras, the cases are real.

Fear Factor was real. And while Judge Judy's audience are paid extras, the cases are real. I watch Judge Judy sometimes, and though she can be an a****** at times, I love how she can be brutally honest when it's needed.

No; no reality show is really "real". They're all edited and manipulated for drama's sake. The bottom line is that "Real" reality is too boring, non-linear and has too much down time. It doesn't have the dramatic arc of a satisfying beginning, middle and end. Even contestant type shows and interviews are edited after they are shot.
We all suspected this, but bought into the idea of "reality" because it seemed cooler, especially when they first came out. But I think we all know better now. I hope!

For a few minutes (which I'll never get back), I watched Ice Road Truckers. They made a big deal about one on the truckers being broke down "in the middle of nowhere with no one to help" Scary, huh? Until they showed an aerial shot with a pickup truck parked ahead of him and one behind him. Unless the pickups were abandoned there for months, I think Mr. Gear Jammer was pretty safe from freezing to death.
