I completely agree, Newton sucks. And Belichick has been a terrible GM as well. I'm just saying QB isn't the only issue with this team, and BB's coaching isn't any better than his drafting. Another one for you to enjoy: ftw.usatoday.com/2020/12/not-even-bill-belichick-could-carry-this-broken-patriots-teamSerious question, Belichick aside, what does this season say about McDaniels? He can't have come out of this looking good by any stretch of the imagination. I don't think it matters. McDaniels has been a failure at every stop other than here when he had Brady. Look at him now.

I mean Winston had 5,000 yds and won 7 games last season. I wouldn’t say that franchise was dead. But adding a hall of fame quarterback certainly helped. They had a losing season. Brady shows up, they have a winning season, they make the playoffs and Brady has more TDs and far fewer INTs. The franchise hadn't been to the playoffs since 2007, hard to say they were on the upswing. Yea by one game! All I’m saying is this team wasn’t the bottom of the barrel before Tom got there. Brady is an improvement over Winston, nobody is saying otherwise...but this Bucs team was a few key players away from a playoff team. And guess what they got in the off-season?

This isn't dragging the Jets kicking and screaming to the playoffs.

So 7-9 is an accomplishment because it's almost not a losing season? 8-8 would be an accomplishment? Who are you, jimanchower? Yeah they were a few key players away, such as a Hall of Fame QB that won't hand the ball to the other team half the time, and a Hall of Fame TE that came out of retirement during a pandemic just to play with said QB. And a headcase WR that could've gone anywhere, but decided he also wanted to play with said QB. Players signed with the Bucs because they knew they would be contenders with Brady. They're currently 10-5 (already a three game improvement over last season with a game to go), they had three consecutive losing seasons before that and hadn't been to the playoffs in 13 years. How you can attribute that to anyone other than Brady is beyond me.

He didn't just cut down on picks, he set a franchise record for TDs in his first season in a new system with no pre-season or training camp. "Anyone could've done this." Well anyone didn't, Tom Brady did. How are things going for the greatest coach of all time without Brady? Brady always walks onto losing teams and turns them into title contenders, but it never really has anything to do with him. I love it.

The point is that they were a key piece away from contention. The roster was assembled. They were a couple of pick sixes away from a winning record last year. Brady knew that, that’s why he went there. He gets to play in sunny Florida with great young receivers, plus his buddies? Why did you think he want there? The challenge of dragging a moribund, hopeless outfit to the playoffs?

The Bucs needed a good QB and got one. They presumably hoped he’d beat good teams like the Saints and Rams, too. He loses against them, it’s COVID, it’s no training camp. He sets records against a replacement-coached Lions team that was also torched by Blaine Gabbert - “wow, look at him go!”

They went to the playoffs three out of the four years before Belichick, including reaching the Super Bowl. Playoffs under two different coaches. Belichick went 5-11 with this team. Look at some of the names on the team Belichick inherited: Drew Bledsoe, Terry Glenn, Troy Brown, Chris Slade, Willie McGinest, Ted Johnson, Tedy Bruschi, Adam Vinatieri, Ty Law, Lawyer Milloy, Bruce Armstrong, Kevin Faulk! A brutal group?! This writer is clearly insane.

I never said 7-9 is an accomplishment, but im also not gonna lie to myself about it being a complete and total trainwreck disaster of a team like you apparently are right now. Are you that obtuse to not acknowledge 7-9 isn't a complete and total shitshow? That maybe the 2019 Buccaneers had at least a few things going for them last year and it didn't take the Messiah himself Tom Brady to pull this team out of the pits of hell to the apparent Super Bowl victory theyve already won in your mind? I thought you were more objective than this honestly. I don't deny any of that. Tom Brady going there brought more talent into the fold. Tom Bradys team this season has more talent than Jameis Winstons team last season. I never said i don't attribute that to Brady. I just aren't buying the complete Cinderella story that you are forcing down your own throat at the moment. One little slice of objectivity would show you that right now.

Maybe, if they had the guys that only came to TB to play with Brady. I never used the covid excuse, you have for Belichick multiple times. Are the Packers any good, because the Bucs beat them. Brady with a pedestrian 166 yds but still threw two TDs in that game. I'm sure they won in spite of him that day. All of Brady's TDs on the season came in that Lions game, eh? The game he took himself out of after one half, when he could've kept pouring it on like some former and current superstars would've done to pad their stats? Belichick loses four games in a row, crickets. The Patriots beat the Ravens in a monsoon (as the Ravens began a three game losing streak of their own), "Wow, look at Belichick go!"

You're lying to yourself if you think they were somehow primed to win a title with literally anyone other than Winston. "They just needed to get rid of Winston. Kirk Cousins could've done this." Stop putting words in my mouth and I'll stop putting words in yours.

They needed a good QB who wouldn't throw the game away. Brady gave them that, and more. Yeah, the Colts beat the Packers too. They came back from two scores down at halftime. And as we all know, 4th quarter comebacks are actually worth more than victories in which you didn't fall behind due to playing poorly through the first three quarters. Isn't that right rey lol? That's why Brady was also crowned for his comeback against a 4 win Falcons team. He took himself out??! Is that a joke? Yeah, Brady was all "fuck you Bruce, I'm not playing anymore. Don't you realize we have the postseason coming up, jackass?" Brady wasn't the only player benched in that game. I'm sure Brady was on the sidelines giving the commands, though. "Take these guys out, Bruce! We need to keep them fresh for the playoffs!" "But Tom, your numbers-" "To hell with my numbers! I said do it, Bruce!" The coaches pulled the players out of the game. You want to congratulate him for not stamping his feet and demanding to stay in so he could pad his stats? "Brady took a trash roster that had never won a game to the playoffs with his eyes closed, I love it." See, I can do it too. Belichick?! Hand this Pats team to another coach and you're not talking about a possible 6-10 right now; you're talking about Trevor Lawrence.

Ok, 4th quarter comebacks are always about bailing yourself out? Is that why Manning is #1? Some massive ego QBs would've demanded to stay in that game, and some coaches would've let them do it. So yeah, I will give him credit for not bitching about it. And again, he set a franchise record for TDs this season, so you can stop pretending he lit up the Lions and no one else. Fair enough, beating the Falcons isn't worth much (even though they just took the Chiefs to the wire this past week). It's a hell of a lot better than losing to the Broncos and getting blown out by the 49ers with half their team on IR. Belichick built this roster. This roster went 12-4 last year with Brady. Belichick sucks. Belichick had four losing seasons out of five in Cleveland (went 1-1 in the playoffs the fluke year) and has missed the playoffs four times now in New England. Every time Brady goes away, Belichick's win totals drop off a cliff and he misses the playoffs. Belichick sucks, it isn't even an argument anymore. I've posted the numbers a thousand times, now it's your turn. Post proof that Belichick is a competent head coach without Tom Brady. Give me a single season where he accomplished a single fucking thing without Tom Brady.

Alright, enough of the negativity. My New Year's Resolution will be to stop bitching about Belichick so often. (Even though I still think it's nuts that authors of articles like the one you posted previously continue to insult great players just to prop up the legacy of a guy with a history of being a prick to reporters.
