Beloved British Invasion singer Gerry Marsden of Gerry and the Pacemakers has passed away. It is reported here at TMZ: Gerry Marsden
Gerry Marsden and his band Gerry and the Pacemakers starred in the film “Ferry Cross the Mersey” released December 1964, 5 months after the Beatles’ “A Hard Day’s Night.” It is usually thought of as AHDN Lite - as well it should be because the Beatles’ genius manager Brian Epstein was the force behind the creation of the Pacemakers’ film as well as its more famous model. However, it is a pleasant enough entertainment if you can find it. According to Wikipedia, “Ferry Cross the Mersey” has never been shown on TV nor released on home video. I happened to catch it at my neighborhood movie theater when it played in the U.S. I still remember you, Gerry Marsden.

Beloved British Invasion singer Gerry Marsden of Gerry and the Pacemakers has passed away. It is reported here at TMZ: Gerry Marsden
Sad news. Gerry and his pals weren't at the Beatles level but they were "sort of" up there when the rock & roll British Invasion was at its peak. Those of us who were around then and remember those days well, and remember Gerry. The luster of the Fab Four kind of clung to those other Brits, which gave them some upward bumps in the charts. For a few brief shining moments they were all superstars; and even today, for some us anyway, their names are still iconic. RIP, Gerry

He was one of my first rock stars, retrospectively, in the Golden Oldies series. Once I got into the Beatles, the Hollies, Gerry and the Pacemakers, and Freddie and the Dreamers, everything followed on from there. Hell, I was bopping to the Swinging Blue Jeans and Billy J Kramer and the Dakotas before I could walk, and I was born in 1976. Life's what you make it (don't mistake, or fake it ...) ...
