German film, television and dubbing actor Thomas Fritsch has left us at the age of 77, on April 21st. He was the son of pre-war Ufa Film matinee idol Willy Fritsch and the actress and dancer Dinah Grace. He became a successful actor in his own right, and an idol in German films in the 1960's, acting opposite screen icons like Lilli Palmer in Adorable Julia 1962 and Das große Liebesspie 1963, Daliah Lavi in Das schwarz-weiß-rote Himmelbett 1962 and Senta Berger in ...e la donna creò l'uomo 1964, he became one of the most popular juvenile leads of the decade. He gained further cinematic exposure through co-starring in European westerns The Last Ride to Santa Cruz 1964, Legend of a Gunfighter 1964 and in international co-productions as Uncle Tom's Cabin 1965. Military service and changes in public taste made his star wane for awhile. Following several years in the wilderness, he made a comeback on stage as the star of light satirical comedies. By the mid-70's, he had also reinvented himself as a TV character player, often alternating sympathetically roguish with comical roles. He is remembered by ZDFR.I.P. Thomas Fritsch

I want to take a little moment here and thank all of you who contributed here when I wasn't well and depressed!
I also wan't to urge you to continue to contribute since what you do is valuable or invaluable, I do it my way and you do it your ways. I might miss a few departures, and thanks for filling out those gaps.
As the OP of this post, nearly 5000 views, and we all keep in mind that this is place/post for remembrance and memories, and thanks to all of you it works!

How beautiful are the memories of my visit my visit to Tivoli, and Villa D'Este.
Equally beautiful are the memories, and tributes, that you have paid to those with whom posters to this board share an interest.
My thanks is to you. Often, I have been unfamiliar with a film contributor, in his/her background. I learn a great deal from this thread.

It is one thread I turn to regularly - with apprehension each time I open it up admittedly - and I couldn't honestly say I enjoy reading it - but it is an important aspect of the board and film buff life that our idols move on to a better place - and that we have a dedicated space and process to acknowledge that - and you do it with tact and sensitivity and in an even handed way so thanks "Tim"
