Had one for the first time in years. Maybe since childhood. And man oh man was it good!
Imported Mexican Coke with real sugar. Extra creamy slow churned vanilla ice cream.
It was quite the treat. 😋

That is one of my favorite treats as well. Just Coke or other sodas too? I’m thinking orange soda would go great with ice cream too. Never tried it though.

I used to have vanilla ice cream, Hershey's syrup and Coke and I called it a soda. Now I cut up a Dark Chocolate Klondike bar , put it in a glass and cover with Classic Coke. Sometimes I put a few spoons of sherbet (usually orange) into a glass of Sprite - very refreshing.

Now that you mention I do recall also having sherbet and Sprite at some point in my childhood. I wonder how vanilla ice cream would go with Sprite.

Not a huge fan of Coke, but I always liked root beer floats. A local restaurant has a Peach float made with Peach Nehi pop and vanilla ice cream. Can't have that much sugar anymore, but I can still dream.

I had a big float and some fried chicken at lunch!
Now I’m sick! 😝 I can’t indulge like that anymore. But man was it tasty!

Orange soda and 'nilla ice cream eaten ( drunken (?) ) outdoors in the shade of a tree on a HOT day in the summer = Nirvana.

I read a suggestion online for cream soda floats with chocolate ice cream. I’m not sure I’ll try that, but it sounds intriguing.

I tried a Cream Soda float tonight, Pretty good! Not as good as Coke or Root Beer though. The vanilla ice cream really enhanced the vanilla flavor.
Ackbar recommends.

Root Beer was always my fave. "Dad's" was the most popular brand from the stores, but "A & W" offered floats at their restaurants. Eventually, they sold their RB in stores, too.

Tonight I tried it with Black Cherry soda (a brand called Americana). Great soda, but surprisingly the ice cream did nothing to enhance the experience. I had high hopes for the Cherry Float. Not all that impressive though.
Coke Float 10/10 Cream Soda Float 7/10 Cherry Soda Float 5/10
