In MENENDEZ PARTE I: EL DIA DEL SEÑOR (MENENDEZ PART I: THE DAY OF THE LORD), the title character is a priest who uses unconventional methods during exorcisms to the point where, at first sight, it seems like he's hurting the possessed victim more than the demon. That sounds like an improvement on the sub-genre's formula, right? No, it's pretty much the same story we've seen before, except with gratuitous torture, and it culminates in an abrupt ending. Some moments are unintentionally funny, while others are meant to be funny but instead come off as silly. Look: If you're making a movie that's meant to launch a franchise, unless the next installment is already in production, you can't add numbers to the title nor show what the sequel will be called in the mid-credits scene. 3/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.
