I still write checks (but NO, NOT when checking out in the grocery store, while the 100 people in line behind me are all rolling their eyes because I INSIST ON WAITING UNTIL THE CHECKER TELLS ME THE TOTAL AMOUNT DUE BEFORE FINALLY PULLING MY CHECKBOOK OUT TO GET STARTED!!) to pay all my bills.........simply because it's the way I've done it all my life, and like the "control" I still feel I have by doing it this way (as silly as that sounds!!).... What are the thing(s) you still do (or feelings/thoughts you have that more and more tend to be looked at as the "old way" of looking at things) "the old fashioned way" ?? SAVE FERRIS

I still call people on the phone to see how they are and chat - rather than just texting them.

About half of people pay with their cards now. Myself included but I carry cash. Kids don't take coin change either which comes out of an automatic dispenser. I haven't seen anyone write a check, even customers in their 70s and up.

I like going to shops and only use online shopping if it’s really necessary.
And I prefer drawing with physical media even though I also draw on tablets and phones.

I really wish the U.S. Mint would discontinue pennies especially (worthless) and nickels and maybe dimes as well.
But I don't quite understand that line. Why don't "Kids ... take coin change"?

Might as well be worthless shilling pieces to them. Takes up space, needlessly heavy. I throw pennies in the trash.

You know I love you. And the female love of my life was Jewish. But will you get mad if I post a tasteless anti-Semitic joke?

Other than some bills I still get on the mail, I haven’t paid anything by cheque in a long time. Before the pandemic I paid cash for almost everything below a certain amount. That was out of principle; when I spend $30 at a small merchant, I want the merchant to have the full amount, instead of $29.10 with the remaining $0.90 going to a fucking bank. When the pandemic started we were told that plastic was safer, so I started using my credit cards almost exclusively.

Depends on what I'm doing, but I largely do things old school. Just the way I'm used to things and I don't mind doing them old school generally speaking as long as they work well.

Ah, this is my kind of crowd!
I have relationship with my smartphone (damn, "smartypants"), that is tenuous, at best.
- I do not take it with me, wherever I go, unless I'm planning to meet someone, and we may need to connect.
- I have no Apps
- I keep no private information ... medical, banking etc., on it.
- I despise "texting." Understand, that I have no problem connecting with friends to THEIR phones, IF I can connect with their phone from my desktop keyboard. I'm a fast typist, on a standard keyboard. "Hunting 'n pecking," on that tiny little keyboard drives me crazy.
I've never met "Alexa." I'm wholly capable of turning the lights on/off, by myself.

I've never owned a smartphone, though my HTC Wildfire S gets me through with texting. I'm off phone calls & landline.

Weird topic. Me and my wife have been together over 20 years so I guess that’s kind of old school.

Music - I still use CDs and Cassettes. Same here. Also, DVDs, no Netflix or anything like that. I also wear a watch and always will. I still have a landline. I don’t have a dishwasher or a clothes dryer.

. I still have cash (coins and bills) on me. . I still fill my income tax info on paper and send it through Canada Post. . I still address strangers, even people my age , using the second person plural pronoun (in french there is a difference between the singular and plural one, so you know more easily when some talks in a familiar or formal manner). . Whenever I go somewhere with a lady (whether it's my grandmother, my cousin, a coworker, a date, etc.) I open the door and hold it until she get in then I get in behind.
