I would tear it down and burn it first and see how they react, then make my decision.

I'd ask them why they felt compelled to fly the flag.

Catman would adopt a dog just so it could poop in the person's yard.

I would find it very strange if somebody in Norway had a confederated flag hanging outside their house.

I'd ask them why they felt compelled to fly the flag. that would be the smart thing to do, which is why i didn't think of it.

I'm curious that way, too. Right now I'm really, really curious about those rioters who stormed--and breached!--the U.S. Capitol. Does that seem socially acceptable to anybody here?

Seriously?
Exactly how long did it take for people like this to become socially acceptable? And why did they do it when it *wasn't*? Why didn't they just act and be and do what everybody else around them was?

Eh, you'd probably only get ignorance, half-truths, open hostility, or all of the above by asking. No one raises a Confederate flag because they want to have a stimulating conversation.

My that's a funny looking confederate flag. And if you read Stetson Kennedy's book Unmasking the Klan, you'd find another rude surprise.

That seems like a really stupid thing that didn't have a lot of thought prior to execution. Can't cure stupid.

Well go ahead, show us the confederate flag in those pictures. It's the 'official' symbol of white supremacists right?, and this was their biggest demonstration ever when they marched on Washington in 1925. Go ahead, show us all the confederate flags at that march.

You're the one who brought up 'blatantly do something socially unacceptable'. Did you forget history?

Here's a well-known quote frequently--but apparently erroneously--attributed to Sinclair Lewis:
‘WHEN FASCISM COMES TO AMERICA, IT WILL BE WRAPPED IN THE FLAG AND CARRYING A CROSS’
Just because the Klansmen were carrying U.S.--rather than Confederate--flags, does that make what they were doing (while off-camera) perfectly fine and "socially acceptable"?
