You should be doing somewhere in the 90 percentiles. Grade inflation is rampant. A 'B' now in 80 percentiles would have been a C 20 or 30 years ago. Ebony, I expect better from you.
Frankly I think your parents may have a point. I'm all for love. But young women should not sacrifice their own career objectives to cater to a man. College comes first. If you're satisfied with a low 'C', which 81% means these days, you might as well get knocked up and leave school.

The course average for every class I've taken at this school has ranged from C- to B-. 81% is an A- at this school, which ranges 80-84%. As long as I'm above average I'm satisfied. I ain't sacrificing no career objectives. I've also been working this semester because I haven't had family support for years (they wouldn't pay for what I wanted to study), although I only earned about half of what I spent. I've had to skip work when I felt too stressed out, and due to my visual impairment I'm prone to headaches which is part of why I took several years off school. Thank goodness I've had years of savings. When I first started at this school when I was 18 there was a guy whom I called my "boyfriend" but I wasn't attracted to him at all. That was when I identified as asexual. I was just lonely and wanted someone to talk to. I'm in a very wonderful relationship now and it's made me the happiest I've ever been. Haven't needed to take antidepressants for over a year.

who cares about grades come on, what matters is passing or failing. never in my life any employer or anobody asked me for my grades. i never graduated magna cum laude and have not been to ivy league schools, yet got to the top in my profession and worked as a C-Suite executive - grades are mostly over rated. Whats important is if you are passionate about your field and in some cases also if you have the degree. But even that is getting less and less important these days with free education available on line. Enjoy your percentile and grades as they are.

Unless you want to go to grad school it really doesn't matter. Maybe in internship might care but even that is questionable. Although I'd argue that even being passionate about it is optional at best. I certainly don't care about what I do but it pays well enough and that's what counts.

Forget about the giant walking penis and concentrate on your future, because straight males these days ain't gonna carry you through life, baby.
Yes, grade point matters. It will be on your resume for life if you're know how to use it. I've locked up more than a few jobs based on my UCLA 4.0 alone.
Nora, I can't believe another woman is giving her this advice. I guess every woman needs a queer man to tell her the real truth.

I have 3 postgradual degrees, grades never mattered to me or anybody around me or to anybody at work, it just never even came up, and I have been working since I was 18 and changed jobs/careers a few times. And its not like she is failing or even struggling to pass. Whats wrong with a B or even a C? Unless there is a very specific reason like you need all As to get to another school or you know that in your field the competition is so fierce that grades will matter. why make her feel bad? Not even in law (highly competitive area where good schools and great grades ARE supposed to matter) it mattered from my experience and those around me. And when I was hiring (and I hired dozens of people and reviewed probably hundreds of CVs on my life) again, grades were not even mentioned or discussed. So, would I advise ebony / anyone to get a degree and follow their passion and educate themselves? Sure. Would I say I believe great grades are important for your future life? I cant say that because I dont believe that. Thats all.

Haven't needed to take antidepressants for over a year. Ebony, you've told us all about Igor. And I've been very supportive of your dalliance. He's a cute funny kid and he sounds great to have fun with while you're in your school.
But he is just that, a dalliance. You know that most young straight males use women and then cast them aside whenever it suits them. He's a fucking 19-year-old boy. So he's technically still an adolescent. Trust me, he will not be there for you in the long haul. 10 years from now he'll be a fleeting memory.
Young males use women. I guarantee if you a great job for him opens up in Kiev, he'll kiss you goodbye and be gone.
Put the boot on the other foot for a change. Use him for what you can get like men do women. Don't let him hinder your progress. And your 81% shows that maybe what he's doing. A low 'C' 81% is unacceptable. You need to arm yourself for the future. Grades and school first. Hairy balls second.

I cant say that because I dont believe that. Thats all. With all your graduate degrees, you surely realize that any fool who goes through college and is content with a mediocre 'C' minus is only selling herself/himself short. Really, you went to graduate school and only put in enough effort to barely pass? In every class you settled for an easy 'C' minus because you can't be bothered to work any harder? I honestly don't believe you, especially if you have graduate degrees.
It's not the grades per se. It's the effort and the learning experience which goes with it.
The grade point average indicates what you've got for all the money you paid to get that degree.
My point is, if "boys and sex and la la la ooh what fun" is more important to a woman than her success and her career and her ability to compete in a sexist job market, she will not only waste her college years, she will fail at life.

I have been supporting myself just fine for years without a degree. I receive grants that cover the entirety of my tuition plus some other expenses, at least for this year. A C- at this school is 60-63% and I haven't gotten a grade that low since 2013 let alone averaging in it, and that was in a subject my dad forced me to take and I have zero interest in ever taking again.

what I am saying is: its possible to get all Cs and still have a great career and lots of success (despite the “sexist job market”) and it might not ever matter. I even had a fair amount if Failed classes and had to repeat a year etc. Again, nobody EVER cared other than my parents. Mind you - There is nothing else in what I am saying than my own experience. And my experience says: School grades are just such a tiny supersmall part of indicating if your future will or will not be a success that its not worth so much stress. (if it stresses one that is). Plus she is not even getting all Cs or any Cs, she is doing pretty well and seems to be doing better than before if I go by her words. So why put someone who is doing well at school already, and is happy in their relationship (however odd that may seem to me perosnally) under extra pressure? Genuine question: what do you think she could do with all As that she cannot reach with some As and some Bs?

Grade inflation means what is now marked as a 'B' would have been marked as 'C' in the Before Time. Ebony thinks she's getting B's. But if she had been in my graduating class, the same work would have earned her only 'C's'

Do you have comp problems? 81 percent means 81 out of 100 correct. That's objective and would NOT have earned me Cs.
