This man talks a lot of sense but I do wish I had less bushy eyebrows. I also wish they didn’t merge into a mono brow. I also wish I had a smaller nose. And my eyes are too close. Anyone out there know a good plastic surgeon!

Anyone out there know a good plastic surgeon! what a wonderful ted talk, thanks for sharing. i find it sad how tortured people are over their looks. the societal pressure is big sure but the internal insecurites are often even bigger. i have yet to find a femalw who trully loves the way she looks. how sad is that... also - monobrow / bushy brow has such an easy solution Stam And big nose is not a problem at all on men...Look at Dustin Hoffman or Tom Cruise

There was a movie I saw ages ago where I think it was Jim Carey who played a plastic surgeon who made everyone look identical, and he, himself, was an exaggerated version of what people consider to be "attractive". He then had four ribs removed for a smaller waist. Mind you this all started due to him being bullied as a child for being pudgy. These are real photos of him after his ongoing plastic surgeries (which are ongoing I think). ^^These are all implants, not muscles. In interviews he's stated how wonderful it is to never have to go to the gym, having pec and abdominal implants, and also ones in his arms and shoulders.

It's as if we have an expiration date or a shelf life. We're reminded of that every time we see actors who divorce their wives (or break up with their girlfriends) only to hook up with younger and younger women. Look no further than all the requests to post "hot" photos of women as if our value is only our physical appearance. We've nothing more to offer, and when that well runs dry? It's so sad. Think about the women who are attacked with acid? And here many people complain about simply not being "beautiful enough" when there are so many bigger things going on in the world. As long as we parents raise our boys to worship physicality above all else, this will never end. I know men are visual creatures, but that doesn't mean we can't teach them to expand their mind, or raise our daughters to have greater self-esteem.

I think sex appeal is way more important than physical appearance, it's a mental thing, how you carry yourself (hello fat, bearded, STILL sexy Russell Crowe). Sadly, I think the digital age has only perpetuated the unrealistic beauty ideals. I'll never meet them, but screw them, I don't have to, I have sex appeal instead I feel like this thread is giving me permission to get into the Fig Newtons.

The mother should have been taken out and shot. Damn, my mother would have accepted me if I had three eyes and horns. She didn't even want to bring him home? That's what stood out to me most about this story. -the lack of support which most of us take for granted.

I love the way Glenda Jackson has let her face age and uses it as an acting tool. If she had been more concerned with the glamorous side of acting her range would have been lessened after plastic surgery.

She decided to own her age and forgo plastic surgery, and I think she looks great, better than many actresses her age that have had work done. People get that weird, artificial look from too much surgery after awhile. Men too (hello Steven Tyler). They got tools for your troubles, Stamm. I also have thick brows that need a lot of upkeep (the struggle is real). I keep em' waxed and plucked, but check this out, for $20 bucks I might try it: www.flawlessbeauty.com/

I've owned my face since I was born. I mean, who else would?

Catman would own his face but for those doppelgängers from alternate dimensions who keep popping up here and there.

It’s been a bit of a face day. This morning I listened to a BBC radio documentary about Robert Chelsea and just now found out about the TV documentary. A word of warning though, his injuries are pretty horrific and I for one got a bit over emotional.
