Well at least we know that Johnny Depp won't be reprising the role.

Not only that, there's other Roald Dahl books yet to be adapted. Where's The Twits at?

I HATED that last movie. I like the concept of this though if they have the right person for the role and it's not creepy and weird like the last one.

This is pretty unnecessary, but oh well. I assume this will be a prequel to the Gene Wilder version specifically, since that’s the one everyone loves.

There’s already a sequel book which has never been adapted. Why does this need to happen?

It could work as a Yellow Submarine-ish cartoon, I guess.

I'm probably one of the few that likes both versions about equally, only slightly preferring the original. That said, an original prequel sounds completely unnecessary and reeks of typical Hollywood hacks who can't make anything original and have to hijack existing properties. Honestly, if they really want to put out another Wonka movie, why not get an insane director to make Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator?

Maybe that’s what he should have done instead. He could probably be the only director to make that work.

gee I know, lets pick a bunch of flavor of the month choices for Wonka! seriously what more can you do with this whole story and why not go older as well, I got an idea lets have gee I don't know Michael Sheen or Jermaine Clement as Wonka? hell why not perhaps Cillian Murphy?.

I liked how stylistically it was a contrast to the whole 71 version.
