La Revilution (Netflix)
"A brilliant idea well executed, literally. Superb acting, big budget sets and cgi, intelligent dialogue and gallic flair. The soundtrack is also outstanding and very classy, mixing old and new seamlessly. If Mozart had a Moog, this is what he'd write. No spoilers but the first couple of ep's will lead you down one road, only for it to take a sudden left turn and lead you in another entirely different direction.
I thought I'd be watching a Le Miserable style story, which it kind of is, but really isn't, it's way darker. To compare it to TWD would do it a disservice, it's a lot smarter than that. I suppose my last comment gives a hint of what is to come. Dive in, wallow in the madness and bathe in rivers of blue blood, you won't be disappointed.
The series ends with a set up for a second instalment, things have only just got started. Judging by the opening scene of ep' 1 there's a lot of carnage to come.
Unfortunately the historical purists are going to have a fit and hate it, that can't be helped. This is pure fantasy based on a simple 'what if...?' idea, so suck it up or don't watch it, simple"
I've just finished episode 3 and I am agog and many other gogs too

Thanks. When it showed up on Netflix I immediately put it on my list, without knowing much about it - being a historical series was enough for me to be interested. I’ll get around to it some time.
And speaking of French series on Netflix, there is a new one that is attracting a lot of positive attention: “Lupin”, with Omar Sy, a kind of modernisation of the Arsène Lupin stories, a very popular French book series about a “gentleman thief” from the early 20th century.

And I highly recommend La Revolution as well. I did a brief write up of it in the 'What are you watching' thread a while back, worth a watch for sure.
