The question that this board loves: HOF? Yeah. Mostly as an accumulator.

I'm kinda surprised. Of the old guys still hanging on he kinda seemed like the one who still had the most ability left. He actually had a good year.
I'm not really familiar with his numbers or anything, and I'd have to hear some arguments, but my knee-jerk, gut reaction is no to the Hall of Fame.

I mean statistically he’s up there with most of the other really good QBs. The question is post-season. Did the Chargers ever make it to the AFC Championship During his tenure? I know, 52 other guys and bad coaches but fair or not the QB bears the majority of responsibility. I’ll still say yes to HOF.

Brady vs Rivers this year, and this doesn't include the postseason. Granted Brady had more weapons. www.fantasypros.com/nfl/stats/tom-brady-philip-rivers.php

Well, that was a quick end to the 21-22 season for the Colts. Unless by some miracle they can find a replacement of his caliber.

And without consulting the numbers and just from watching this year it seems that he had a less of a drop-off than Brees or Roth-berger.

Rivers had a very good career, I’m not sure if he’s HOF worthy or not. It will be interesting to see what the Colts do now, they have a very talented team they just need a good QB, it wouldn’t surprise me if they picked up Wentz, given Wentz and Reich’s prior relationship, but I don’t think Wentz is good enough to get them to a Super Bowl, and this Colts team right now is really strong. I know they would love to get Watson, but I don’t think the Texans will trade him to a division rival.

It's fitting that Rivers retires the same year as Brees. Without Rivers, the Saints don't get Brees.

Lots of fans are linking the Colts to Stafford and Darnold, or making a play to trade up in the draft. Of course, fans don't run sports teams. If they did, the Eagles would have inked Wentzy to a 20 year fully guaranteed contract after 2017.

I've been lead to believe by GM Frogs that you could start with a 1st and 3rd, easily. That's just the beginning of what you'd be able to get back from what I've been told.

Dude’s a Hall of Famer in my book. Went to the AFC Championship game in 2007, led the league in touchdowns, passer rating, and passing yards at various points in his career, has 64k passing yards, 421 passing TDs. Definitely deserves being in more than Eli Manning, who’d only get in because of the two Super Bowl wins.

You've gotta think odds are pretty good that one of Rivers' kids grows up to play in the NFL, right?

HOF yeah sure. Only Tarkenton is ranked higher in Reference's highest HOF Monitor ranking of QB's without a title. If it takes him a few tries so be it.

Went 14-2 in 2006, lost in the divisional round to the Patriots. Patriots. Patriots. Patriots, patriots. Patriots. Ok, the self-parody is now more obnoxious than the real me, I'll move on. I'm not sure if he's Hall of Fame worthy. Someone once said, "Can the story of [insert sport] be told without including this player?" is a good criteria for HOF candidacy. By that measure, I'd say Rivers doesn't make it.

By that measure, I'd say Rivers doesn't make it. It's an interesting discussion. I think a compelling argument can easily be made that he was the best of the 2004 class but will almost certainly end up the less remembered, with the smaller market and lack of playoff success. In the 00s you generally had Peyton, Brady, Brees, Rivers and Roethlisberger as the top QBs. I'd put Rivers over Ben.

It's fitting that Rivers retires the same year as Brees. Roethlisberger might hang them up this year too. And maybe Brady if the Bucs win it all. Crazy.
