I dont understand where the narrative that he didn't have good enough talent around him came from. It's nuts. Chargers didn't have all that many all-pros, and few around 2014. Gates, Tomlinson, Merriman, Dielman, Gordon, McNeill, Osgood, Neil, Jamal Williams, V. Jackson, Weddle, R. Matthews, Stuckey, Verett, Hayward, K.Allen, Ingram, Bosa, a few others. Seems like a pretty good list to me. I'd say he was really fortunate with the talent around him particularly in his early career. I've heard this argument before and I recall those teams always being talked about as favorites and having exemplary rosters. I feel like he had a great deal of talent and I think people just say this now because the results didn't meet those high expectations.

One of my all-time favorite football players. The game is much better when you got guys like Phillip Rivers playing, guys that love football the way he does.
Wished he could have won one with the Chargers, he had the bad fortune to play in the same conference as Tom Brady in his prime. Those Chargers teams just could never get past those Patriots teams.
As far as Hall of Fame goes, I could care less. What you actually do in the field of play has less and less meaning as far as getting into any Hall of Fame, so really the whole charade is getting less and less meaningful.

With all the upcoming free time he can finally settle down and have some children.

The other HOF QBs who didn't get to a Super Bowl were Moon and Fouts.
Moon won 5 Grey Cups in Canada in 6 years before even getting to the NFL at age 28. Fouts probably should not be in.

Not great stats, though a different time, and worse in the postseason. www.pro-football-reference.com/players/F/FoutDa00.htm

His luck was bad. The one time where I thought for sure they were going to the Super Bowl, they have to play the AFC championship game in Cincinnati on a day where it was about -45°. I know, both teams had to play in it, but obviously Cincy was a bit more used to cold weather. The Chargers had no chance in that game. Too bad, we missed out on a potential Fouts/Montana Super Bowl matchup.

Well. That was kinda pointless Indianapolis!
Sorry for being blunt. I'm tired. Just bugs me when these old players go to another team for one season then bow out. Kinda feels like they just left their new team holding their dicks.

I dont understand where the narrative that he didn't have good enough talent around him came from. It's nuts. That 2018 Chargers team was looking like his last serious shot at a Super Bowl run, and the team completely no showed/gave up in that Divisional game as they got completely blown out from opening bell. Everybody was off and Rivers looked pissed (understandable).
Chargers had the talent and when they would get to the playoffs they would more or less lay an egg each time. I know they had to contend with the Patriots at their peak and the Steelers and Ravens, but with the talent they had it seemed like they should of been able to fart out ONE Lombardi!

I should probably stop letting Jared Porter be in charge of the invitation content.

Cowherd would not have Rivers, Eli, Warner, Stafford, Gore, Sayers, or Terrell Davis in.
Made up some useless formula about having to be top 5 for two contracts - 8 years for QBs and 7 for running backs.

Are we sure he isn't going to make any more music, with Weezer or otherwise?
