Nothing on mute. Tried playing through tv speakers rather than sound system. No sound. Checked all the settings. They're correct. Played with volume. Nothing. Checked the connections. All fine. So I guess I'll have to disconnect everything, and methodically reconnect them. If I'm not getting sound from both the tv speakers and the sound system speakers, it's not the tv. Any helpful suggestions?

Recently Catman's TV stopped showing images. It became, essentially, a flat screen radio.
No fix but to buy a new TV.
Have you tried a hard reset? Exactly how you do that depends on the TV brand and model, but it usually involves holding down the power button on the TV for a minute or so.

I think it might be setting either in the speaker tv settings (which I've checked five times), or on one of the four freaking remotes that may have inadvertently been hit. I shall perservere.

Well, it seems the sound on the TV is shot. It's probably cheaper to buy a new TV.

UPDATE: Well, I called Samsung, and we went through a bunch of diagnostics, and it appears that the sound board died. A repair guy walking in the door is $100, plus the part, plus the labor.
The TV is 8 years old, and wasn't a SMART TV, like the big-ass one downstairs in the family room. My husband said to get a new one. And to get a bigger one. I got the next size up because I don't want a 55 or 60 or 70 inch TV in the living room. So I ordered a 48 inch one, but it's still a little too big for my liking, but what the hell. It was not too much more than a 40 or 43, so that's what I got. I had a 32, which I liked. So far this years:
1. Printer/scanner/copier went - had to buy a new one. $$ 2. Car got side-swiped while parked on the street in Hoboken and broke the passenger side handle, dented the door and the window wouldn't go down. Had that fixed. $$ 3. Battery in 3rd car died, had to replace it. $$ 4. Living room TV sound died. Replaced it. $$
I think that's enough for at least half of this year.

Two days after getting my car the sewer line and oven broke and now I need to upgrade my electrical. They never happen one at a time.

Mine seem so . . . whiney . . . compared to yours! That sucks big time! Did you get quotes yet? Sewer lines are nasty because of all the labor involved.

That's always how it goes isn't it? Two days after getting my car the sewer line and oven broke and now I need to upgrade my electrical. They never happen one at a time. Wow, those are big ticket items! Mine seem so . . . whiney . . . compared to yours! That sucks big time! Did you get quotes yet? Sewer lines are nasty because of all the labor involved. The oven I think Samsung forgot to charge me for. They quoted me a price for repair and charged it initially but the guy flaked on me and never showed up then the charge disappeared. He rescheduled eventually but never asked for payment and I haven't seen any bill or charges showing up on my card. The sewer they wanted $30k to replace everything but I ended up just getting a partial liner, some cleanouts installed, and a root damaged section replaced for a total of $10k then hope for the best. The electrical will probably be around 5 but I don't need to do anything quite yet. I'll need a new panel when I get a charging outlet installed for my car but I can charge for free at the grocery store until the end of the year so no big rush. The panel is a model that's known for having lots of safety issues though so it's not great. Hasn't killed me yet though.
