The Mandalorian Season Two arrived yesterday and it looks legit. Its in it's original shrink wrap, has the Disney and Lucasfilm logo on both the packaging and the discs. Its also has the barcode. I watch the first four episodes last night and finish up tomorrow. Excellant. I hope hope I'm still around for Season Three and I hope the writers keep Baby Yoda (Grogu) in the script.

Why didn't you just get a month of the streaming service and watch the show that way? It probably would have been cheaper to just binge it. I don't think the show has been released on DVD or bluray. It's most likely a pirated copy that you got.

They only had an important role in protecting the galactic republic some 30 years ago. But he has to be told who they are. Is he an idiot? Jedi are considered part of an archaic religion that's died out. Others think it's all just nonsense. From three Episode 4 scenes: It's safe to say that these ideas have lingered to the time of The Mandlorian. Also just like people don't know the specifics of all the religions of our world, it seems to be the same in Star Wars.

It doesn't look like a pirated copy and it wasn't expensive, now I can rewatch whenever I want .

Question: In the last episode of season 1, Mando gave Grogu a medallion to wear, I didn't see Grogu wearing the medallion duirng season 2 - did the writers forget about it?

I guess that the only explanation is that the Jedi’s role in the Republic is not as recognised around the galaxy as I thought. So maybe the fault is mine. I thought that the Jedi were protectors of the Republic and this was well known throughout the galaxy. Maybe they were a relatively obscure organisation.
Then again, Nute Gunray’s droid and Sebulba seemed to recognise the Jedi order by sight in episodes 1 and 2, based solely on their relatively indistinct but evidently nuanced clothing. Kid Anakin recognised them by the lightsaber. And Watto knew of Jedi.
A protocol droid is expected to know obscure cults I guess. Sebulba was a successful pod racer who travelled the world. Watto was a successful, street-smart businessman. Anakin listened to star pilots on Tattooine. So it’s possible that these characters would know obscure facts that the average being wouldn’t. That plus Jedi were a active force whereas they weren’t by the time The Mandalorian takes place.
Perhaps I assumed that the Jedi were a larger part of the Republic than they were because the films are stories about Jedi.
