I fully understand that this third chapter in the "daily life" of Paul Kersey, might not be to everyones liking. Still, all the ridiculous and over-the-top characters, scenes and stuff which takes place, makes this into one of my absolute favorite action films. I was never prepared for what I had in store, after watching the first two and far more serious and darker films, then this one just went into a complete parody of these kind of one-man-army action releases. What is probably more impressive, is that I think Charles Bronson went in, trying to be all serious (which might have be one of the reasons for the huge fight and split between him and director Charles Winner). Still, the duo left us with this absolute hilarious riot, that along with Commando (1985), pretty much sums up everything I love about these kind of b-movie action films, where I always find something new to laugh at, whenever I re-watch it.

DEATH WISH 1974 5/10 DEATH WISH PART II 3/10 DEATH WISH PART 3 1/10 DEATH WISH PART 4: THE CRACKDOWN 2/10 DEATH WISH PART V: THE FACE OF DEATH 1/10 DEATH WISH 2018 is both an adaptation of a anti-vigilantism novel and a remake of a pro-vigilante movie, so I was ready to be flexible during the comparison. It was made after decades of other movies and TV shows talking about whether it's OK to take the law into one's hands, so I was also ready to be flexible when judging the debate. The problem isn't that we've heard it before; the problem is that some radio DJs (who aren't really connected to the plot) are the ones who discuss it, while the main characters don't. The debate feels like an afterthought. The 1st part of the movie is a very good drama (the melancholic music score stands out), but the scene where DR. PAUL KERSEY goes to buy a gun for the 1st time in his life feels like a satire. Then there's a montage set to BACK IN BLACK by AC/DC. So the character is supposed to be a cool hero? The song is used again for the end credits, like it was the theme song. Oh, and there's a torture sequence. I know it doesn't seem surprising since Eli Roth is the director. However, it feels out of place. This is an action movie; not a horror movie. What I'm trying to say is... What was this movie trying to be?! Something that bothered me in the first 2 installments was that PAUL seemed to be the only one who had a gun, while most criminals had knifes (the script writers' excuse to make sure this middle-aged man without experience would win every time). Here, killing criminals is a real challenge. PAUL's daughter JORDAN falls into a coma. When she wakes up after a while, she asks where her mom is and PAUL feels bad. For some reason, the movie skips the moment where he tells her that her mom died, which would've made the movie work as a drama even more. Not only that but, from that point on, she acts like someone who's recovering from an accident instead of someone who was shot and almost raped. Someone who survived while someone she loves didn't. She doesn't have to be in a catatonic state (like CAROL (her counterpart) in DEATH WISH 1974), but why so alarmingly calmed? The original movie ended with PAUL moving away (to escape from the police) and start over but, when he sees some criminals, he points at them with a finger gun. What's important is that he did it subtly and that it was something that he felt in the moment. This movie ends with PAUL doing the same thing after dropping off his daughter at her college. Not only it seems like he was never willing to stop, but he yells "Hey!" at the criminal before doing the finger gun! In the middle of the street! 5/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.

10/10 One of my favorite action films. I was wondering if I might feel rather lonely, at giving it a perfect 10/10. But always nice to see there are others in here, who truly appreciates the finer things in life, as well. Yeah, Death Wish 3 is quite something else, probably my favorite over-the-top action film of that decade, along with another hilarious and very, very re-wathcable action release that year, in Commando.

Can't bring myself to give Death Wish 3 a 10/10, I rate it 6/10. But I will say this; even though it's beyond ridiculous, there's definitely some entertainment value to be had and it is quite fun. And if ever it gets a special edition blu-ray release (especially if Bronson expert Paul Talbot does an audio commentary) I would be the first in line to scoop it up. EDIT: Just found out it got a blu-ray release back in September by Scorpion Releasing and it does contain an audio commentary by Talbot. I need to get on this.

I am not sure if the film is out, or is planned to be put out for an upcoming Blu-ray release, but yeah. Sign me up, as I would love one, specially with lots of bonus features, hoping for some juicy and probably hilarious stories of what actually went "wrong" during the making, and which I guess, caused the end of the seemingly fruitful friendship/partnership between Charles Bronson and Charles Winner.

Damn, well, that just sounds great. But I guess by the look of it, I might have to re-think of buying a Blu-ray player that works on Region A titles, as the one I have now, only works with Region or is it Code B? Anyway, thanks for the information. I will sure be taking a further look at this 2020 release.

7/10 This film has grown on me. The first time I saw it, it was my least liked of the series.

Thanks. That is actually very good news, or so I hope. I like the look of that double release for both Death Wish II and 3. Also cool that they come with som interesting bonus features as well. Umbrella, I remember from one of the more prominent Youtube/film fan collectors, always forgotten his name, but he has a seemingly huge movie collection down in his basement, and always goes out with his camera to hunt down new or older film releases, and have also appeared in a few horror films. Think he has lost a lot of weight, and seems to be more healthier now than ever. Anyway, I did notice that a lot of the cool looking DVD and Blu-ray copies, often tended to be from Umbrella, but have never gotten around to check them up further than through his Youtube videoes and reviews.
