Ha ok this film--first of all, they cannot make California took like England. It's impossible. Secondly, they brought together as many UK transplants as they could so you have Richard Dawson showing up. The boyfriend being the chief on CHiPs is jarring.
The green makeup is even more of a shock. But the absolute worst decision of all, is not having Pat Priest. That is so evil that they replaced her.
I do like the scene where Herman is carrying Grandpa over a vat of acid in the basement of the house and he says "you'd think the Department of Health would make them take care of that."

A very fun movie and one of my childhood favorites. Seems like it used to be shown once a year on a Sunday afternoon. I always get a kick out of Lily on horseback with the hair flying in the breeze. I used to believe that Robert Pine was an actual Brit since my young ears found his accent convincing.
Behind the scenes, Fred Gwynn and Al Lewis approached the producers about the casting of the Marilyn character. They tried to cajole, plead and strong arm them into keeping Pat Priest in the role, being that they found her to be an important member of the ensemble, but they were denied their request. The producers wanted a younger Marilyn along the lines of "Gidget" or "Tammy" and Fred and Al had to break the news to Pat who was devastated. All they could tell her was that they tried...

Bugger, I forgot De Carlo was on that. Now I know why it was on that day, they showed a bunch of her movies.

I can understand them wanting a youth element--as a marketing thing, or to contrast the ghoulishness of the rest of them-a young love plot, it at least makes some sense--it's not something totally stupid like changing the gender of a character for obscure political message. But how many people are going to go to see a Munsters movie for the youth element? The audience for the Munsters is expecting Marylin to be Marylin, so you alienate them immediately.
The ultimate ending for this would have been to have it revealed the Addams Family lived across the street.
