As much as I can see Cary Grant in George Clooney or James Stewart in Tom Hanks, i.e. not at all.
Don't mean to be grumpy or scolding, but comparisons between classic and contemporary actors just don't work for me.

Don't mean to be grumpy or scolding, but comparisons between classic and contemporary actors just don't work for me. If anything Holden is ore Clooneyesque, IE : golden boy actor who can serve the material, but never showboats at all. And Jake Gyllenhaal, makes more sense to me as a Stewart hybrid then Hanks does, as he captures Stewarts Manic, edgy screen presence much more, whereas as Hanks is a bit too amiable and earthy.
