.......and the reason you got it (i.e., why they call you that?) ?? SAVE FERRIS Good question but my answer is: NONE (to my face, perhaps behind my back but I dont know about that). And I always wanted one... how does one come by a nickname?? (I mean other than a “nick” one gives themselves online)

Not really a very nice one, but I do remember very much, that when I had a pretty nasty time with some bad acne, around when I was 15-17 years of age, and some of the popular girls at my school one day started "joking" about comparing my acne, with a child related, sort of similar I guess, to measales, and they nicknamed me as "hund", which means dog in english. Hund or dog in english, was because in Norway that kind of skin disease is often referred to as røde hunder (or again, in english red dogs). It was embarrasing and got pretty bad for a certain time, did not do much to help boost my confindence towards girls either. Thankfully, the acne got eventually better, and the nickname slowly died out, but still, I hated how some said "everybody got acne", which was easier said than done, as most usually have maybe a little red pimple or a spot, every now and then. But when you pretty much have the entire face and neck, covered full of these nasty and painful stuff, and also being the only one with a pizza face, among a total of almost 50 teenagers, well, that is not very cool place or situation to be in, at all.
I wish I could had a cool or catchy nickname, but thinking back, there were really none kids as of I remember, that had all these "classic" movie/tv-series nicknames, and if they did, they were rarely very positive or something that a certain person would enjoy to be called/named after. Most of the time, they would just hate it.
Kids can sure be cruel, but I do remember even hearing how some of the adults used to talk among themselves, name calling other people behind their backs, and I guess there are those who just never really grow out of that kind of nasty behaviour.

At the hockey games, they call me 'Homer'.
Goes back to a game where I didn't have a hat to wear to the game. So, when I was out and about killing time before the game, I went to Zellers (when they were still around). In a bargain bin was a Homer Simpson hat. A buddy of mine had the same hat, and it looked good on him.
I looked at the price. $2.00 + tax. SOLD!
During one of the games, one of my buddies who was sitting behind me, but a few rows back, kept calling "Homer! Hooooomer!"
The nickname stuck. It's kind of ironic because I'm nothing like a 'homer'. In sports terminology, a 'homer' is a fan of a team who thinks their team can do no wrong.
And, I've been wearing that hat to all home games since. In fact, all the fans around where I sit call me Homer - despite pretty much all of them don't even know my real name!
And, a funny thing about the nickname.
I became friends with a guy who used to be on one of the forums I was on. He got married a few years ago, and I was at his wedding.
His grandma was there, and she was embarrassed to ask what my real name is - because all she's known me as is 'Homer'.

When I was little-mouse because of my love of cheese. When I was older-but by nephews were little-Murray because they couldn't say Mary. So one of my brothers thinking he was oh so funny started calling me Murray. My nephews were too cute though trying so hard for that "air" sound.

"Rape". It has nothing to do with the English word rape and it is also pronounced completely differently. It comes from my first name Raimo and there really isn't any story behind it. The last time someone called me Rape was probably somewhere in the late 90s.

They called me "Cricket" in junior high because I was a tall and lanky kid and I was going through that adolescent voice change. So my voice was squeaky. especially on the high notes.

Raimo (raɪmŏ)
Rape (rapĕ)
They should be pronounced like "right", "rise" etc., not like "ray", "day" etc.
