For my final pick of the day, I'm taking a personal favorite, Tim Roth. A truly great, varied career for this character actor, from being a Marvel baddie (in a boring movie), to one of Tarantino's inner circle, to Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are dead, and turning in a great villain performance in Rob Roy. Clearly capable of action when he chooses to go down that road. He was even in an excellent Tales From The Crypt episode, "Easel Kill Ya." Rob Roy gets lost in Braveheart's shadow, it's a solid flick.

I re-watched Starship Troopers not long ago, for the first time since it came out. I read (or saw) a recent interview with him where he says that his kids' classmates, who weren't even born when the movie came out, are in awe of him for being Johnny Rico.

My final pick today. Casper Van Dien - Best known as Johnny Rico in Starship Troopers. He had that one lead role in a high profile movie and then almost entirely made low budget garbage since then. But he sure looks like an action hero. He's a typical chiseled pretty boy, and he's also not a bad actor. I'm surprised he didn't get to be in better stuff. |
