Glad to see other fans of this quality made and acted crime-thriller. Which I believe was years ahead of its game back then, but I guess little or none big/famous names attached, not much action or fast paced plot, that, and maybe some poor promotion as well, made it a hard act to sell out to an larger audience. Did probably not help either, that it got "stucked" behind the way more popular and famous later Hannibal Lecter relases. But I am glad it finally found its home, through cable tv, VHS and then much later on, seems to be a heavy influence to some of todays more famous crime shows and films, either in style, writing or characters. For me, a 10/10. Was not always like that, maybe more around 7/10, but as most of my favorite films, it did grew on me over time, and I kind of knew early on, it had the potential for far greater ratings.

B+
Hadn't watched in years. I grew up thinking this was as close to a horror movie without being a horror movie. Now it barely scares me at all. Still underappreciated I think. I do agree with many of its crew that the title was a misstep, though I don't think Red Dragon would've suited it either.
A director's cut(?) end scene with Graham visiting the family who was next, just to see tangibly see them, does seem a lot stronger on paper. It's a bit of a jarring moment itself & not as smooth an outro as the theatrical cut.
