There's a lot to choose from but I like the ones where the supreme ruler of the universe basically acts like a gangster.

That one where God sent a bear to kill some kids for making fun of a bald guy is pretty funny.

Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver have rusted, and their rust will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up for treasure for the last days. Behold, the wages of the labourers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. You have lived on the earth in luxury and in pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. — James 5:1–6

The book of Armaments concerning the number of the count for the Holy Hand Grenade.
More seriously,
Psalm 40:15 15May those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!" be appalled at their own shame.
Then the entire Proverbs 1, which deals with those who lie in wait, and say to join them, but they wait to destroy themselves.

I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.
Revelation 3:15-17
Yeah i don`t belive in God or the bible but i think that`s a cool verse.

Proverbs 17:27 NIV - 'The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered.' Well, who would have thought that there would be one that this old agnostic atheist would like! Are you sure that is from the bible?

Well, who would have thought that there would be one that this old agnostic atheist would like! Are you sure that is from the bible? My favorite Bible quotes tend to be ones that make one concentrate on just being a better all around person
I was raised Catholic. I consider myself 'Spiritual' now - i.e. not following a specific religion; however I enjoy taking little parts of different religions, philosophies, cultures just trying to be a better all around person. I still read the Bible; however concentrate on the sayings that pertain to me trying to be a better person. Who am I to judge what is right or wrong as far as what one chooses to believe in? Even if they don't believe in anything .....
I try to live by the golden rule - treat others the way you want to be treated. Don't ever expect anything in return - and just let me live in peace and pretty much leave me the hell alone
I picked up a book years ago which helps with my spirituality - it compares the sayings of Jesus, Buddha, Lao-Tzu, Krishna - instead of tearing down religions and stating who's right and who's wrong - it compares the teachings - pretty much how they're all pretty similar in a sense - just try to live a good life and be a good person

You know, the Golden Rule didn't originate from the bible - it traces back to Egyptian times, and is contained, in some variation, in every religion on the face of the Earth. We really should start a "Golden Ruler" movement. Of course, that wouldn't work for psychopathic people who can feel no empathy, and generally have been the victims of abuse. I think we humans developed a bigger brain and cognition, but our brains are not quite big enough, yet. I wonder if we will ever evolve past lizard brain fear-of-other. That looks like an interesting book, I may try to find it. Is it on Amazon? Edit: My personal favorite mantra is "May all sentient beings be free from suffering." the Buddha That is what I personally try to do, within my limitations. Lessen suffering, in the real world.

I went to a Catholic University - shockingly I had a theology teacher that preached about Eastern Philosophy - talked about Deism a lot, Confucianism, Buddhism, I Ching. I started to develop an open mind and try to just concentrate on being a peaceful person and not judging others. Not concentrating on material things to make me happy, happiness is a mindset, etc
Work in progress - but it settles my head and I feel happier.
i.e. - whatever comes your way in life you'll be OK - just practice mindfulness - concentrate on the present moment and try to do the right thing

I've been doing that my entire adult life, doing the right thing, donating to charitable organizations, both money and clothing, food, etc., and fostering cats for a humane rescue group. My main focus now is bottle-feeding baby kittens that have been 'dumped' that show up at the veterinarians' office. When I have bottle-fed, then baby-food fed, then canned-food-fed them for up to 8 weeks, they go back to the vet's office to be adopted out after being spayed or neutered and having all vaccinations. If the people with the mother cat had simply had her spayed... but they didn't, so I give these kittens a chance to be adopted into a loving home, rather than perishing in the elements or being eaten by a predator. The vets and I are in agreement of trying to do the right thing - they donate veterinary care and I donate time and kitten milk replacer, baby food and canned food. In the beginning, the littlest ones have to be eye-dropper-fed every 2 hours, around the clock. By the end of 'kitten season', I am a sleep-deprived mess, but I still think it is worth it. I have lessened the suffering of those sentient beings. I can't save them all, but I make a difference to the ones I do take in.
